Bluegrass Underground Wins 4 Emmy Awards

Bluegrass UndergroundNashville, TN -- Producers of the acclaimed PBS music concert event Bluegrass Underground today announced the series is proud recipient of four coveted Emmy awards from the 28th Annual Mid South Emmy Awards. The awards were announced by the National Academy for the Television Arts & Sciences January 26th at Nashville's Schermerhorn Symphony Center.

The Del McCoury Band Wins 2nd Grammy For "The Streets of Baltimore"

Del McCoury Band GRAMMY Win 2014Del McCoury was already hard at work in Baltimore’s lively bluegrass music scene when the very first Grammy awards were presented more than 50 years ago, but you couldn’t tell it from the way he bounded up the steps to thank the Grammy voters for honoring his Del McCoury Band’s The Streets of Baltimore at Sunday’s glittering awards show. The trophy marked the group’s second 21st century Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album (as well as Del’s 10th nomination total), and for the silver-haired McCoury, who turns 75 in just a few days, it’s an especially sweet one.

Bean Creek Named Best Bluegrass Band At 2014 NCBS Bluegrass Awards

Bean Creek Bluegrass BandBean Creek from Santa Cruz was named Best Bluegrass Band at the 2014 Northern California Bluegrass Awards held in Redwood City on January 25. The 7th annual ceremony was presented by the Northern California Bluegrass Society as part of the Bluegrass On Broadway Festival.

Del McCoury Band Wins Best Bluegrass Album GRAMMY

Del McCoury Band GRAMMY Win 2014Best Bluegrass Album Gramophone Trophy goes to the Del McCoury Band for their album, The Streets Of Baltimore. Other nominees were The Boxcar's It's Just a Road, Daily & Vincent's Brothers of the Highway, Della Mae's This World Oft Can Be and Three Chords and the Truth by James King. All are winners in the eyes of bluegrass fans however, a big congratulations to the legendary Del McCoury Band for their well-deserved win. The 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards were held Sunday, January 26, 2014. The announcement of the Best Bluegrass Album took place prior to the main award ceremonies.

Doyle Lawson Honored by Mountain Home Music

  Fiddle player Jason Barie, Doyle Lawson, and band leader/dobro player Josh SwiftArden, NC -- Bluegrass legend Doyle Lawson was honored by his record label Mountain Home Music, as Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver were presented with a glistening engraved plaque last week commemorating their song “Dixie Road” topping the prestigious Bluegrass Unlimited Magazine Monthly Song chart at #1 for December 2013. The #1 song “Dixie Road” is from Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver’s 2013 release “Roads Well Traveled” on Mountain Home Music label, a division of Crossroads Entertainment.

Among the nominees for Theatre of the Year is Nashville's iconic Ryman Auditorium, which won the award for the third time in a row earlier this year. Other nominees include Beacon Theatre (New York, NY), Chicago Theatre (Chicago, IL), Nokia Theatre L.A. Anni Beach, James Reams, AlanBarnstormer Boost Award for Dedicated Music Teacher -- As the Grand Finale to the James Reams & The Barnstormers’ 20th anniversary coast-to-coast celebration tour, the band performed to a packed house at the Fiddler’s Dream concert hall in Phoenix, AZ on Saturday, November 2nd. The standing room only event brought together this nationally-known bluegrass band, a Grammy-nominated fiddler, a 70-year-old music teacher, and an 11-year-old Hispanic guitar player for an evening of great music and good times.
