American Bands Named for International Cultural Diplomacy Tours

Laura Cortese & the Dance CardsWashington, DC -- Nine American bands representing a diverse variety of American music have been selected to embark on 4-6 week international tours to collaborate and engage with global audiences. The tours are part of the American Music Abroad (AMA) program, an initiative of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs in partnership with American Voices.

American Voices Accepting Applications To Tour State Department’s American Music Abroad

American VoicesAmerican Voices, in partnership with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, is now accepting ensemble applications for the American Music Abroad 2013-2014 touring season. In the previous tour, Della Mae represented bluegrass music through American Voices. Artists interested in participating in this outstanding program can now apply.

Della Mae to Represent Bluegrass Music Through American Voices

Della MaeAmerican Voices and the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs are pleased to announce the lineup for the 2012-13 season of the American Music Abroad program. This season, American Music Abroad received nearly 300 applications from musical ensembles in over 40 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The all female group of artists, Della Mae, was selected to represent the bluegrass music genre.

American VoicesAmerican Voices, in partnership with the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, is now accepting ensemble applications for the American Music Abroad 2012-2013 touring season. Bluegrass artists are also being encouraged to apply. Bluegrass is a true American music genre formalized by the father of Bluegrass, Bill Monroe.
