A Tribute to John D. LoudermilkNashville, TN -- One of America's most beloved songwriters will be honored September 15 with the release of the Vector Recordings album A Tribute to John D. Loudermilk. Among the more than two dozen musicians memorializing the composer of "Tobacco Road," "Abilene," "Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye," "Waterloo," "Indian Reservation," and "A Rose and a Baby Ruth" are Emmylou Harris, Rosanne Cash, Ricky Skaggs, Rodney Crowell, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver and renowned guitarists Tommy Emmanuel and John Jorgenson. Doyle's been a longtime favorite here at Bluegrass Underground, always putting on a dependably great concert, backed by a variety of great young pickers and singers. Like Del McCoury or Larry Sparks, at 72, Doyle is too young to be part of the First Generation, but he came along not long after. At 18, The Tennessee native was picking banjo with Jimmy Martin, before going on to play guitar and mandolin with J.D. Crowe, including the legendary lineup that featured Red Allen. He joined the Country Gentlemen in 1971, forming the second great lineup of that band, before leaving in 1979 to lead his own group. He's also featured on the incredibly influential Bluegrass Album Band CDs and tours. Suggested listening - J.D. 47th GMA Dove Awards Nominees Announced

ashville, TN -- The Gospel Music Association (GMA) announced the nominees in 44 categories for the 47th Annual GMA Dove Awards. Bluegrass artists nominated include Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver who are frequently nominated, Flatt Lonesome with their first ever nomination, Jimmy Fortune, Joey+Rory and The Isaacs. The awards show will take place on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena in Nashville at 6:30 p.m. CST. Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) will exclusively air the awards show on Sunday, October 16, reaching over 100 million viewers in the U.S., plus global and multi-platform distribution. Voting for the final winners will run August 23 through August 30.

As the only peer-based music award, the GRAMMY Awards are voted on by The Academy's membership body of creators across all disciplines of music, including recording artists, songwriters, producers, and engineers. Final-round GRAMMY® ballots will be mailed Dec. 16 and the preeminent award for excellence in music will be presented Monday, Feb. 15, 2016, live from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles and broadcast on the CBS Television Network from 8 – 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).
