New Staff Position Open with IBMA

IBMA LogoNashville, TN -- The International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) has announced that longtime IBMA staff member Jill Crabtree will be departing the association after a long time of great service. Her departure will be no later than July 1, 2013. This means the association has an immediate position available for the right candidate.

IBMA Announces Leadership Bluegrass Class of 2013

This was the 14th year of Leadership Bluegrass, which now boasts over 300 alumni.

2013 IBMA Bluegrass Songwriter Showcase Announced

IBMA Artist Showcase Application Deadline is February 15

IBMA Showcase ArtistsNashville, TN -- /IBMA/ Up to 50 showcase artists will be invited for the International Bluegrass Music Associations's (IBMA) World of Bluegrass 2013, depending on the number of applicants and the qualifications of groups that apply. Each official showcase act will perform twice, and possibly three times during World of Bluegrass Week in some combination of following areas: the Raleigh Convention Center, evening showcase rooms at the Marriott or Sheraton hotels, evening showcases at six in-town venues, or as a part of the weekend street fair. There will also be opportunities for merchandise sales and, potentially, a share in showcase-generated revenues after off-site venue expenses are covered.

Final 2012 “Bluebird in the Bluegrass” Night at Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe

Bluebird CafeOn Tuesday, December 11, the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) will host the final night of its 2012 “Bluebird in the Bluegrass” series at The Bluebird Café in Nashville. Throughout the year, the concerts have been a successful showcase of bluegrass songwriting talent, and have raised money for the IBMA Trust Fund. IBMA looks forward to continuing its relationship with The Bluebird in 2013.

Doyle Lawson Expresses Gratitude for Hall of Fame Honor

Lawson received a thunderous standing ovation following his introduction by heralded WSM and Opry announcer Eddie Stubbs.

America's International Bluegrass Music Association

IBMA LogoIt's called the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) but the association is about as International as the World Series is a global baseball game. Sure, the association has members who reside outside of our borders just as the World Series has ball players from other countries. But, it takes more than putting the word "International" into your name to actually be International. Nobody considers the World Series to be a global game and, for the most part, the people I know don't seriously consider the IBMA as an "International" association.

23rd International Bluegrass Music Awards and Honors

The Gibson BrothersThe Gibson Brothers took home the “Entertainer of the Year” Award at the 23rd annual International Bluegrass Music Awards Thursday night, September 27, 2012 at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. Brothers Eric and Leigh Gibson, along with their band (Mike Barber, Clayton Campbell and Joe Walsh) also picked up an award for “Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year” for “Singing As We Rise.”
