Alison Krauss, Jerry Douglas to perform for Americana June 1st

Alison Krauss and Jerry DouglasNashville, TN -- The Americana Music Association announced today plans to produce “Cross County Lines,” a one day festival/celebration of Roots inspired music to take place in Middle Tennessee during the early summer of 2014. A kickoff event has been planned, hosted by Alison Krauss and Jerry Douglas, to raise awareness and funds to support the not for profit music association’s mission and will take place Saturday June 1, 2013 at Liberty Hall at The Factory in Franklin, Tennessee.

Dobro Artist Mike Auldridge has Died

Mike AuldridgeMike Auldridge, the legendary dobro player who co-founded the Seldom Scene and later, Chesapeake, died yesterday morning after a long battle with cancer. He was 73. He had been under hospice care until his passing. His expressive talent on the resophonic guitar had no bounds as he played bluegrass, country and even jazz with style and elegance. He performed primarily around his Maryland home but certainly performed across the nation and the globe.

Most notably, Sutton spent four years as a member of Ricky Skagg's band, Kentucky Thunder, during a time when Skaggs reentered the bluegrass scene after a successful stint in mainstream country music.

MerleFest 25, presented by Lowe's, is slated for April 26 – 29, 2012, and will once again take place on the campus of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, North Carolina. MerleFest is an annual homecoming of musicians and music fans, gathering to celebrate the memory of musician Eddy Merle Watson, beloved son of American music icon Doc Watson.

Jerry Douglas 'Jerry Christmas' to Raise Funds for Life-Saving Transplant

Jerry Douglas - Jerry ChristmasFranklin, TN – 12-time Grammy Award winning bluegrass and acoustic musician, Jerry Douglas, will ring in the holiday season with his show, "Jerry Christmas" and help to raise funds for the Children's Organ Transplant Association. "Jerry Christmas", will be held in honor of Witt "Baby Witt" Deane, a Franklin-area child who had a Heart transplant last fall. The event is planned for Saturday, November 26, 2011 beginning 8:00 PM, at the Historic Franklin Theatre in downtown Franklin. 1-1/2 year-old Witt received a Heart transplant at Monroe Carrell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville. Funds are being raised to assist with transplant-related expenses.
