Bluegrass Band Flatt Lonesome Captures Three Top SPBGMA Awards

Photo by LuAnn Adams, LAMA PhotographyFlatt Lonesome claimed three Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America (SPBGMA) Awards on Sunday, February 5th during the association's annual program held in Nashville, Tennessee. The band took home SPBGMA's Vocal Group of the Year and Bluegrass Band of the Year (Overall), and Charli Robertson claimed Female Vocalist of the Year.

The Farm Hands Come up Big at SPBGMA

The Farm HandsThe Farm Hands and members of the band have won six awards at the 2017 SPBGMA conference in Nashville, TN this past weekend. At the 2016 SPBGMA Bluegrass Music Awards, The Farm Hands collectively took home four awards. This followed up an incredible 2015 when they received one of the SPBGMA's highest honors, "Entertainer of the Year." They are one of the busiest touring bands in bluegrass, performing over 150 dates per year. For anyone who has seen them in concert, none of this comes as a surprise. The group features four award winning singers, musicians and songwriters: Tim Graves, Daryl Mosley, Keith Tew, and Don Hill.

2017 43rd SPBGMA Awards Winners Announced

Dean Eaton was generous enough to post the awards as they were announced on his Facebook page. The 43rd Annual SPBGMA Bluegrass Music Awards took place during the 34th National SPBGMA Convention held at the Sheraton Music City Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. The awards show is definitely the highlight of the annual event and bluegrass music's biggest stars are always there participating in performances as well as collecting their respective trophies.

Ronnie Reno to Be Inducted into SPBGMA Preservation Hall of Greats

Ronnie RenoNashville, TN -- The Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America (SPBGMA) has announced that “Bluegrass Music’s Youngest Old Timer,” Ronnie Reno, will be inducted into the Preservation Hall of Greats at the upcoming 42nd Annual Bluegrass Music Awards to be held February 7 at 6:30 P.M. at the Sheraton Music City Hotel in Nashville, Tenn. The award is the highest honor presented by SPBGMA, a trade organization formed over 40 years ago to preserve the traditional spirit and art form of Bluegrass music.

Tim Stafford Wins SPBGMA Award - Blue Highway to Perform National Anthem

Tim StaffordNashville, TN -- Blue Highway's Tim Stafford was named Guitar Player of the Year at the 41st Annual SPBGMA Awards held at the Sheraton Music City Hotel on Sunday night in Nashville. The award marks two Guitar Player of the Year honors for Stafford and a total of six cumulative SPBGMA honors for Blue Highway. The honor comes on the heels of Stafford earning the 2014 IBMA Songwriter of the Year Award last October in Raleigh.

Russell Moore Wins SPBGMA Male Vocalist Award

Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme OutNashville, TN -- Russell Moore has been awarded the Male Vocalist of the Year (Contemporary) Award by the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America (SPBGMA) during a ceremony that took place Sunday, February 8th. Moore and his band, IIIrd Tyme Out, performed on Friday evening as part of the SPBGMA National Convention in Nashville, Tennessee, but had to leave for shows in Kentucky and Ohio, keeping him from attending the awards program in person.

Larry Stephenson Band Wins SPBGMA Album of the Year

Rhonda Vincent SPBGMA's 2015 Entertainer of the Year

Rhonda Vicent & The RageNashville, TN -- Already one of the most decorated artists in Bluegrass, Rhonda Vincent was named "Entertainer of the Year" at the 41st Annual SPBGMA (The Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America) Convention & Awards Show in Nashville this past Sunday. In addition to being named "Entertainer of the Year," Vincent, who was inducted into the SPBGMA Hall of Greats last year, took home "Contemporary Female Vocalist of the Year." Earning their title as the most awarded band in Bluegrass Music, Rhonda Vincent & The Rage won "Bluegrass Band of the Year," while band member Josh Williams was honored with the "Master's Gold Award," which commemorates winning "Guitar Performer of the Year" a total of ten times, and band member Hunter Berry took home "Fiddle Performer of the Year."
