Bluegrass Museum Ramping Up For ROMP

Sam Bush at ROMPOld Crow Medicine Show, David Grisman, Sam Bush, Railroad Earth, Ricky Skaggs, Del McCoury, Sarah Jarosz, and 23 String Band are among the dozens of talented acts set to perform at Owensboro's ROMP Festival, June 25-28. ROMP Festival is a four-day music and camping festival hosted at both the museum, in downtown Owensboro, and at Yellow Creek Park, a gorgeous 150-acre facility that is a perfect setting for a music festival. ROMP features traditional and legendary bluegrass artists alongside old time and progressive bluegrass musicians who expand the boundaries to the far-flung roots and branches of bluegrass.

Country’s Family Reunion: Simply Bluegrass on RFD-TV

Dailey &VincentNashville, TN -- Country’s Family Reunion (the DVD/Television series that brings America’s most-treasured artists together to reunite and reminisce) will premiere episodes of its latest offering “Country’s Family Reunion: Simply Bluegrass” beginning Friday, March 7 at 8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central on RFD-TV and FamilyNet. Hosted by Hall of Fame Inductee Bill Anderson and 14-time Grammy winner Ricky Skaggs, this reunion features a cross-section of award-winning and legendary Bluegrass artists, from “finger-pickers,” to “purists,” to “New-Grass” contemporaries.

Masters of Bluegrass Final Show in Naples, Florida Dec 8

Bluegrass MastersAlmost a year ago The Masters of Bluegrass proudly announced their first ever show as a band with Del McCoury, JD Crowe, Bobby Hicks, Jerry McCoury, and Bobby Osborne in the lineup. After a year of playing some of the best venues and festivals in the country and making some amazing music and memories, this Sunday, December 8, the bluegrass supergroup will play their last show in Naples, FL at The Philharmonic Center for the Arts.

Artist-In-Residence Ricky Skaggs Performs Bluegrass

Ricky SkaggsNashville, TN -- Ricky Skaggs is the current Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum’s 2013 Artist-in-Residence. Skaggs will present two intimate evening country and bluegrass music performances on November 18 and 19, at 7:00 p.m. The concerts will be the museum’s first public programs in the new CMA Theater. The performances will be Country Boy at Heart on the 18th and Bluegrass Rules on the 19th.

Del McCoury Gets Mitchell County, NC Highway Named after Him

Del McCoury Highway DedicationGrammy winner, Grand Ole Opry Member and legendary bluegrass artist Del McCoury receives a highway dedication and celebration. The five mile sction of Highway 261 that connects Bakersville to Glen Ayre in North Carolina has been designated the "Del McCoury Highway" according to EDC Director Bill Stagle. The request was approved by the Department of Transportation and the dedication took place Saturday, October 26th. Governor Pat McCrory made the presentation and the Del McCoury band provided music in their classic bluegrass style.

Bluegrass Legend Del McCoury Thanked by Songwriters Ulisse and Salley

Ulisse, McCoury, SalleyNashville songwriters Donna Ulisse & Jerry Salley recently had the opportunity to thank Del McCoury in person for recording their song "Butler Brothers". The song is a tragic and chilling story song about two brothers fighting on different sides in the Civil War and has been included on the highly anticipated new album The Streets of Baltimore by the Del McCoury Band. Inspiration for the writing team came from a document Ulisse's husband acquired out of a courthouse in Virginia about his great-great-great-great grandfather fighting against his own brother.

Alison Krauss Unable to Perform at Wide Open Bluegrass Festival

Alison KraussNashville, TN -- Performer Alison Krauss will be unable to perform, as previously announced, as part of the “epic collaboration” set planned for Friday, September 27 during IBMA’s Wide Open Bluegrass Festival in Raleigh, North Carolina, at Red Hat Amphitheater. As per the artist’s representative: “Alison Krauss was recently diagnosed with a vocal condition called dysphonia. Alison has been advised to have vocal rest, and therefore will not be performing at Wide Open Bluegrass next weekend. We anticipate a smooth, quick recovery given proper treatment and adequate rest.”

Del McCoury Band to Premier “Del & Woody” at Caramoor Roots Fest

Originally scheduled for January 25th, the program had to be rescheduled due to bad weather. Now, Bristol's Paramount Center for the Arts has rescheduled this outstanding program for next month.
