Hardly Strictly Bluegrass 17 Lineup Announced

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass 17Now in its 17th year, the free and large Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival held in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park has announced the lineup for this year's event. The free Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival is a gathering featuring over 90 acts on 7 stages performing over 3 days. This year's event is to honor Patricia Christina “Chris” Hellman – artist, ballerina, philanthropist and wife of Hardly Strictly Bluegrass founder Warren Hellman. Chris Hellman passed away on Saturday, February 4th of this year. Warren passed away December 18, 2011.

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Lucky 13It's the Lucky 13 edition of the bluegrass super-festival, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. This 13th year of the free festival is a great tribute to Warren Hellman who passed away two years ago. Hellman presented the festival to San Francisco as a gift of thanks to the community and as a way of giving back. This year's grand event will take place October 4, 5, & 6, 2013. As was done last year, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass did a series of medley contests as a method for pre-announcing the performers for this years event. The medleys are over and the full list of performers has been announced.

By various medleys on the Artist Lineup website page, there are a series of medleys. As the artists are identified, their names are posted to the roster. The site says, "We are announcing confirmed acts for this year's festival through a series of music medleys each week. As you all guess them correctly, we post their names and photos in the scroller above, as well as a text list below. Good luck guessing and share your guesses with your friends!"

Warren Hellman, Producer of the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival Dead at 77

Warren HellmanYesterday evening, Warren Hellman, 77, passed away from leukemia complications. The philanthropist who hosted the multi-day Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Music Festival in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, gave his music gift to the city each year. He had an open and charitable heart as big as the festival he held. He loved bluegrass music and this was his way of giving back to the community.

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Remembers Hazel Dickens Beginning Friday, Sept. 30

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass 2011It is once again for the monstor free Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival held in Speedway Meadow at San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. The donated festival is given each year by Warren Hellman. This year's event is being held in loving memory of Hazel Dickens. Hardly Strictly Bluegrass is a family-friendly festival. Children and on-leash dogs are welcome but they should be comfortable with large crowds and loud music. Police estimate that more than 600,000 people attended the festival last year over three days, including 350,000 on Sunday, the festival's traditional top attendance day.
