CMHoF&M Presents Two Bakersfield Sound Programs in March

The Bakersfield SoundNashville, TN -- This month, the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum will present a special program and performance by musician and producer Pete Anderson (March 22) and a Merle Haggard film screening (March 30) in support of the exhibition The Bakersfield Sound: Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, and California Country. The Bakersfield Sound Continues Through December 2014

The Bakersfield SoundNashville, TN -- The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum's major exhibition The Bakersfield Sound: Buck Owens, Merle Haggard and California Country will be held over through December 2014, Director Kyle Young announced today. The popular and acclaimed installation, which opened on March 23, 2012, was originally scheduled to close at the end of this year.

Bakersfield Songwriter Red Simpson Honored as Poet and Prophet

Red SimpsonNashville, TN -- Songwriter and Bakersfield Sound architect Red Simpson will take a seat at the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum on Saturday, February 23, as the latest subject of the quarterly programming series Poets and Prophets: Legendary Country Songwriters. The 1:30 p.m. in-depth interview and performance, held in the museum's Ford Theater, is included with museum admission and free to museum members. Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum to Spotlight Bakersfield Sound

The Bakersfield SoundNashville, TN -- The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum will shine a spotlight on its exhibition The Bakersfield Sound: Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, and California Country, with several special programs on November 10-11. Highlights include a family program in which kids will create an art project inspired by Bakersfield Sound stage wear and instruments; a songwriter session with Buddy Mize; and an interview with Buck Owens family members Buddy Alan, John Owens, Mel Owens and Michael Owens (including a brief performance by Alan), all on Saturday, November 10.

Merle Haggard and Buck OwensNashville, TN -- The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum's major new exhibition, The Bakersfield Sound: Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, and California Country, opens on Saturday, March 24, 2012, for a near two-year run. Narrated by Dwight Yoakam, the exhibit will explore the roots, heyday and impact of the Bakersfield Sound, the loud, stripped-down and radio-ready music most closely identified with the careers of Country Music Hall of Fame members Buck Owens and Merle Haggard.
