2014 Monroe-Style Mandolin Camp Moves to Nashville

Monroe Mandolin Camp 2014The Annual Monroe Style Mandolin Camp which has been hosted by the International Bluegrass Music Museum in Owensboro, Kentucky is moving to Nashville, Tennessee this year. The camp, scheduled for September 4-7, 2014 will be held at Camp Marymount at 1318 Fairview Blvd. The Monroe Mandolin Camp (Nashville) is a specialized mandolin camp playing and learning the songs and instrumentals of Bill Monroe. The mission of this camp is brilliantly simple: Provide world-class musicians chooled in the music written, recorded, and created by the Father of Blue Grass music-Bill Monroe. This niche genre within the world of bluegrass is important to preserve and keep alive. It is the roots and base for an entire subculture of music within the folk/country/roots/bluegrass scene.

12th Annual March Mandolin Festival set for 2014

Banjo Camp North Sept 27-29 in Charlton, MA

Banjo Camp NorthBanjo Camp North Fall Edition (BCN-FE) is a weekend-long celebration of the 5-string banjo in bluegrass, old time and folk styles! World-class banjoists make up our full-time and "adjunct" faculties. We always invite top flight fiddlers and guitarists to teach about playing with other instruments and jamming, and to be on hand to help make those all-night jams something special, plus we will emphasize banjo and fiddle duet playing.

Workshops Announced for FreshGrass Sept 20-22 Bluegrass Festival

MASS MoCANorth Adams, MA -- The FreshGrass Festival at Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art’s (MASS MoCA) has one of the best line-ups in bluegrass and now they have a workshop line-up to match. During the weekend you will be able rest your dancin' feet, and take part in our lively workshop offerings which range from theory classes to instrument-specific playing techniques. All workshops are free with admission. Space is limited so register on the day of the event when you arrive at the festival -- first come, first serve. Workshops will be held throughout the FreshGrass festival weekend, September 20-22, on the campus of MASS MoCA.

Folk Alliance International Launches Winter Music Camp

Weekend Full of Bluegrass Music Workshops Scheduled for FreshGrass

Monroe Style Mandolin Camp 2013Owensboro, KY -- At the Monroe-Style Mandolin Camp, attendees will spend three full days with the finest mandolin faculty and luthiers and up to 50 of the coolest mandolin players you'll find on Planet Earth. With registration for each camp capped at 50, the camp's intimate environment located at the only museum in the world dedicated to the international history of bluegrass music allows for ample opportunities to receive personal, hands-on instruction from each of the legendary instructors of Monroe-Style mandolin. The International Bluegrass Music Museum is located in Owensboro, Kentucky near where it all started in the small town of Rosine.

Banjo Camp North Spring Edition Coming May 17

Banjo Camp NorthBanjo Camp North Spring Edition is a weekend-long celebration of the 5-string banjo in both old time and bluegrass styles! World-class banjoists make up our full-time and "adjunct" faculties. We have invited several top flight fiddlers and guitarists to teach about playing with other instruments and jamming, and to be on hand to help make those all-night jams something special. Plus we will emphasize banjo and fiddle duet playing. Another area of study is singing, solo and group. This year's Banjo Camp North will take place at the Prindle Pond Conference Center, Charlton, MA from May 17 through May 19, 2013.

Free Online Workshop by Tony Trischka and Mike Marshall

Banjo Meets MandolinThere are two free online music workshops happening next week. The first is "Banjo Meets Mandolin" with Tony Trischka and Mike Marshall on Tuesday at 6 PM PDT. It will feature Tony and Mike playing, teching and talking about their careers and how the two instruments fit together in the bluegrass context and beyond. This will be especially interesting for bluegrass musicians.

8th Annual Bean Blossom Bluegrass Boot Camp

Bill MonroeCamp Director Sarah Wasson will be heading up the 8th Annual Bean Blossom Bluegrass Boot Camp and instructors. Interested youth ages 6-18 years of age will be allowed to sign up for the fun but structured camp. The bluegrass music camp consists of professional instructors and will teach students in small group and one-on-one sessions - brand new through advanced.
