Bill Keith & Larry Sparks to be Inducted to IBMA Hall of Fame

Bill Keith & Larry SparksThe International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) has announced that Bill Keith and Larry Sparks will be newest members to be inducted into the association's Hall of Fame. The induction will take place during the IBMA's annual Awards Show in Raleigh, North Carolina on October 1st, 2015. Both Keith and Sparks have left a permanent impression in the music we call Bluegrass. Both are also still active in the music and bring a long tradition of their respective styles as they helped shape the sound of today. While each are significantly different in their contributions, there is no denying that without them much of what we listen today would have been shaped differently.

2015 International Bluegrass Music Awards Nominees Announced

2015 IBMA Award Nominations AnnouncedNashville, TN -- Nominees for the 2015 International Bluegrass Music Awards were announced in Nashville, Tennessee, with Balsam Range, Hot Rize, The Del McCoury Band, The Earls of Leicester, and The Gibson Brothers nominated for the prestigious Entertainer of the Year award. Balsam Range, the reigning Entertainer of the Year, acquired eight nominations during the nominee announcement. They are again up for Entertainer of the Year as well as Vocal Group of the Year, Instrumental Recorded Performance, Song of the Year, Gospel Recorded Performance plus individual nominations for members of the band. IBMA Awards Nominations Announced August 12 on One-Hour Live Show

World of Bluegrass 2015Nashville, TN -- The nominations for the 26th Annual International Bluegrass Music Awards will be announced on Wednesday, August 12, as part of a live show on SiriusXM’s Bluegrass Junction channel (channel 61.) The Gibson Brothers, two-time IBMA Entertainer of the Year recipients and hosts of this year’s Awards show in Raleigh, North Carolina on October 1, will reveal the nominations during the SiriusXM one-hour live show, which will air from 11am – 12noon Eastern/ 10am – 11am Central.

Flatt Lonesome Celebrating as Emerging Artist of the Year

IBMA’s Momentum Awards Nominees Announced

Emerging Artist Nominee, Town Mountain, Releasing New Album

Town MountainAshville, NC -- IBMA Emerging Artist Nominee, Town Mountain, set to release their first official live album, Town Mountain: Live At The Isis, on Tuesday, August 19th. The concert was recorded in their hometown of Asheville, NC at Isis Music Hall. The album features live versions of previously released studio material including crowd favorites “Lawdog,” “Tarheel Boys” and the fiddle tune “Four Miles.” Amidst the original songs are a couple of lively Town Mountain-tweaked covers such as “The Race Is On” and “Orange Blossom Special.” The audio was mixed by Scott Vestal, acclaimed banjoist with the Sam Bush Band, who also mixed their fourth studio album Leave The Bottle [Pinecastle Records 2012].

Music City Roots Hosts IBMA Nominations Show

Sam BushPerhaps you followed the drama that surrounded the International Bluegrass Music Association moving its annual World Of Bluegrass convention from Nashville to Raleigh, NC last year. The group, which supports the art and business of bluegrass worldwide, wrestled with declining attendance and many complicated pros and cons of Nashville. We were courted by officials from Raleigh who proved beyond a doubt that they wanted World of Bluegrass to be part of their Fall calendar and culture. And long story short, we made a very tough decision to head to a new city and it went better than any of us dared to hope. Even the IBMA Awards show was a hit, despite the painful sacrifice of moving out of the Ryman Auditorium.

Balsam Range's Marc Pruett Remembers Hall of Fame Inductee Paul Warren

Marc PruettNashville, TN --- In the wake of winning Album of the Year at the IBMA awards, Balsam Range’s banjo player Marc Pruett paused at a table backstage which held the plaques for Hall of Fame inductees Tony Rice and Paul Warren. Gently touching the plaque for Warren, Pruett was overhead saying simply, “Aw, I miss him. He was my friend.”
