Flatt Lonesome Claims Three IBMA Awards!

Flatt Lonesome Claims Three IBMA AwardsFlatt Lonesome claimed three International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Awards on Thursday, September 29th during the association's annual conference held in Raleigh, North Carolina. In addition to being named IBMA's 2016 Vocal Group of the Year, the band also won Album of the Year for Runaway Train (Mountain Home Music Company) and Song of the Year for "You're The One" written by country artist, Dwight Yoakum.

27th International Bluegrass Music Award Winners

The Earls of LeicesterThe International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) was held Thursday and the winners were announced during the annual Awards Show. The 2016 Awards Show was held Thursday, September 29 at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts, Memorial Hall in the Oak City, lovely Raleigh, NC. Sierra Hull and Dan Tyminski hosted the gala event.

Becky Buller Claims Three International Bluegrass Music Awards

Becky BullerBecky Buller claimed three International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Awards on Thursday, October 1st during the association's annual conference held in Raleigh, North Carolina. During the Special Awards luncheon, Buller was named the IBMA's Songwriter of the Year. Later that evening, Buller was awarded Emerging Artist of the Year and also Recorded Event of the Year for "Southern Flavor," a special performance with Bill Monroe's former Blue Grass Boys, Michael Feagan, Peter Rowan, Buddy Spicher, Ernie Sykes, Roland White, and Blake Williams and written by Monroe, DeWayne Mize and Guy Stevenson. Although Buller is a previous winner of an IBMA Award through her work with the Daughter of Bluegrass, these are her first IBMA accolades as a solo artist.

Executive Director Paul Schiminger Explains the IBMA Awards Process

SchimingerThe new Executive Director for the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA), Paul Schiminger, has put together an educational video that explains the entire process for the association's annual awards and the voting process that ultimately decides the winners. Held annually since 1986, today almost two dozen awards are handed out to recognize the top achievements across the industry. The awards feature new professionals through the Momentum Awards through the normal music awards and finally the Hall of Fame inductions. Some awards are voted on by the professional membership and some are determined by select committees without voter input.

Volume Five Receives Two Separate Industry Award Nominations

As announced in a press conference by the International Bluegrass Music Association, Volume Five received an Award Nomination for Emerging Artist of the Year. At the same time, the 46th Annual GMA Dove Award Nominations were being announced live from Lipscomb University in Nashville where Volume Five was honored with a Nomination for Bluegrass Recorded Song of the Year for “Daddy Was An Old Time Preacher Man” featuring Rhonda Vincent, written by Dolly Parton and Dorothy Joe Owens.

Bill Keith & Larry Sparks to be Inducted to IBMA Hall of Fame

Bill Keith & Larry SparksThe International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) has announced that Bill Keith and Larry Sparks will be newest members to be inducted into the association's Hall of Fame. The induction will take place during the IBMA's annual Awards Show in Raleigh, North Carolina on October 1st, 2015. Both Keith and Sparks have left a permanent impression in the music we call Bluegrass. Both are also still active in the music and bring a long tradition of their respective styles as they helped shape the sound of today. While each are significantly different in their contributions, there is no denying that without them much of what we listen today would have been shaped differently.
