Michael Coleman describes these rare live recordings of the American bluegrass giant by counter-culture icon and concert sound pioneer Owsley Stanley (known as Bear to his family and friends). Doc & Merle Watson: Never the Same Way Once – Live at the Boarding House – May 1974 is kind of a long name for an album but, this isn't an ordinary album and, the material is a long list of tracks -- 7 CDs worth.

The Oly Mountain Boys Concept Box Set Album Released

White Horse Box SetThe Oly Mountain Boys' concept album, White Horse, that tells a life story through original bluegrass and contributions from writers and artists has been released. White Horse tells the life story of a fictional historical character, Charlie McCarver, who lived in early 20th century Washington State. It begins with his happiness in youth with wife Lisa-Ann and their children. When his marriage unravels and his family leaves him, the songs chronicle Charlie's psychological crack, descent into violence, and life on the run. The album closes with songs that explore Charlie's memories, regrets, and confrontation with aging and death.
