2013 International Bluegrass Music Awards Activity Begins

IBMA AwardsThe International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) announced their initial list of eligible recorded products which can be nominated for the 24th International Bluegrass Music Awards this year. To be eligible, the bluegrass music recording must have been released between April 1, 2012 and March 31, 2013. As a result of the initial announcement, artists, producers, labels and others are making their respective projects known to the bluegrass music community with emphasis on the voting members of the IBMA. Cybergrass Bluegrass Music News Webcasting IBMA Awards Show Now!

23rd IBMA Awards ShowCybergrass will be webcasting the 2012 23rd International Bluegrass Music Awards Show this week on their award winning web site. This will be the 17th consecutive year that Cybergrass has webcast this outstanding program. Many fans of the music who wanted to listen to the awards show could access the live streamcasts of the show. Many other fans around the world could not attend the program in person. Cybergrass will have the 23rd International Bluegrass Music Awards online this week beginning Monday, October 15. The awards show was recorded live on September 27, 2012 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Gibson BrothersThe Gibson Brothers took home the “Entertainer of the Year” Award at the 23rd annual International Bluegrass Music Awards Thursday night, September 27, 2012 at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. Brothers Eric and Leigh Gibson, along with their band (Mike Barber, Clayton Campbell and Joe Walsh) also picked up an award for “Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year” for “Singing As We Rise.”

The Awards Show, held at Nashville, Tennessee's historic Ryman Auditorium, will feature performances from nominees Balsam Range, The Boxcars, Dailey & Vincent, The Grascals, The Gibson Brothers, Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out, Sierra Hull & Highway 111 and Steve Martin & The Steep Canyon Rangers. Also performing is Awards Show host, Sam Bush. More performers, as well as the lineup of presenters, will be announced in the coming weeks.

Also announced at the press conference were this year's inductees to the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame - bluegrass ambassador and leader of one of the most awarded bands in the history of IBMA, Del McCoury and pioneering bass player and guitar stylist George Shuffler - and the five recipients of the Distinguished Achievement Award: Greg Cahill, Bill Knowlton, Lilly Pavlak, Geoff Stelling and Roland White.
