'Born in Bristol' Short-listed at Cannes Film Festival

Born in BristolBristol, VA/TN -- The Tennessee Department of Tourist Development’s (TDTD) Born in Bristol, a 53-minute documentary profiling the 2015 recording of Orthophonic Joy: The 1927 Bristol Sessions Revisited, produced in partnership with the Virginia Tourism Corporation, earned shortlist honors at the 63rd Annual Cannes Lion International Festival of Creativity in Cannes, France in the category of Film Craft – Use of Licensed or Adapted Music. The shortlist is a list of candidates that have been selected for final consideration at the festival; Born in Bristol was one of only 216 out of 2,328 entries to earn that distinction.

Call for Submissions: IBMA's 2016 Bluegrass Film Festival

IBMA Film FestivalNashville, TN -- The IBMA is excited to present its 3rd Annual Bluegrass Film Festival during World of Bluegrass Week September 27-October 1 Raleigh, North Carolina. World of Bluegrass is the perfect place to showcase quality films produced around the music. The submission deadline for this year is June 15, 2016. Filmmakers who submitted films for consideration in 2014 and 2015, but were not selected, may have their films considered again this year without submitting a new application.

IBMA Launches Inaugural Film Festival at World of Bluegrass

IBMA Film FestivalNashville, TN -- The International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) is excited to present its first annual IBMA Bluegrass Film Festival during World of Bluegrass Week September 30-October 4 in Raleigh, NC! The festival is comprised of two Feature Films, screened during the IBMA's World of Bluegrass Business Conference (Tues.-Thurs.), and six Festival Films, screened during the Wide Open Bluegrass Festival (Fri.-Sat.). Featured film screenings will include an introduction and post-screening Q&A session with the filmmaker or a representative during the Business Conference. All eight films (feature and festival) will be shown twice during the weekend.

Northern California Bluegrass Society Issues Call for Films

Bluegrass on BroadwayThe Northern California Bluegrass Society has issued it’s annual Call For Films for the Eighth Annual NCBS Bluegrass Film Festival to be held on January 25, 2015 in Redwood City, CA. The film festival is part of the weekend’s NCBS Bluegrass On Broadway Festival. The deadline for film submissions for consideration by the festival is October 24, 2014.
