2nd Annual Monroe Mandolin CampTuesday, the Monroe Mandolin Camp started accepting a limited number of video submissions for their 2nd Annual Video Scholarship Competition. They are looking for fun, creative videos of you playing a Bill Monroe tune, and telling them why this music is important to you.

Monroe Mandolin CampIt’s time to start gearing up for this year’s Monroe Mandolin Camp (MonManCamp)! The producers are excited to announce some exciting additions to the camp. In addition to the Monroe music intensive focus, the wealth of classes, individual tutorials, jams, and special presentations, the 2016 teaching staff will integrate some ‘Old-Time’ mandolin flavor this year as well as a special banjo track. MonManCamp '16 takes place September 14-18, 2016 and will be held at the Scarritt-Bennett Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Join the festivities for an opening night celebration jam of traditional bluegrass music and Bill Monroe's music. MonManCamp will have some of Nashville's finest musicians for this special night of music. Jamming starts at 7pm and goes until the music stops. Free Parking on site.

Mon Man Camp is looking or fun, creative videos of candidates performing a Bill Monroe composition, and telling us why this music is important to them! The winning candidate will be awarded a full scholarship, including tuition, lodging, meals, and t-shirt to the September 9 - 13, 2015, "Mon Man Camp" being held in Kingston Springs, TN (just outside of Nashville).

Monroe Mandolin Camp Announces Two Showcase Performances

Monroe Mandolin CampOn Wednesday, September 9, 2015, the Monroe Mandolin Camp Instructors Mike Compton, David Davis, Skip Gorman, David Long, Casey Campbell, and Mark Royal (plus all-star backup band), will be performing LIVE on Music City Roots, showcasing that traditional bluegrass roots style mandolin playing created by Bill Monroe. What a fantastic night to showcase our world-class instructors, and to shine a spotlight on Bill's music! We'll create our own Monroe-Mandolin-Mania! Show starts at 7pm. You can attend in person at The Factory in Franklin, TN, or view via the live telecast from the comfort of your own home. An opening night jam where you don't know who of Nashville's finest will show up to hang out and play tunes with you. Learning the Art of Mandolin Construction from world-class luthiers Paul Duff and Will Kimble (and rumor has it that Steve Gilchrist may make it this year as well)! The camp is excited to present to you four of Bill Monroe's greatest-and enduring-sidemen. They are Glen Duncan, Tom Ewing, Mark Hembree and Blake Williams, who entered Monroe's band between 1979 and 1986.

IBMM's 9th annual Mandolin Camp! Nov. 14-16, 2014

Mike ComptonOwensboro, KY -- Returning for his 9th consecutive year as camp director is bluegrass music legend, Mike Compton. Known for his mastery of Monroe-style playing, Mike is a preservationist who continues teaching the music that Bill Monroe innovated and which set the standard for generations of bluegrass mandolin players to come. The International Bluegrass Music Museum's (IBMM) 9th Annual Mandolin Camp will take place November 14 through 16 at the International Bluegrass Music Museum in Owensboro, Kentucky.

Directed by master mandolinist Mike Compton, this camp will include 3..5 days of hands-on instructional intensive classes for beginner through advanced students. The camp also 16+ daily classes, one-on-one private tutorials for all students, opportunities to work with world class luthiers on your own instrument, and both structured jams led by an instructor to try out your new chops, and unstructured jam sessions late into the evening.

Monroe Mandolin Camp 2014The Annual Monroe Style Mandolin Camp which has been hosted by the International Bluegrass Music Museum in Owensboro, Kentucky is moving to Nashville, Tennessee this year. The camp, scheduled for September 4-7, 2014 will be held at Camp Marymount at 1318 Fairview Blvd. The Monroe Mandolin Camp (Nashville) is a specialized mandolin camp playing and learning the songs and instrumentals of Bill Monroe. The mission of this camp is brilliantly simple: Provide world-class musicians chooled in the music written, recorded, and created by the Father of Blue Grass music-Bill Monroe. This niche genre within the world of bluegrass is important to preserve and keep alive. It is the roots and base for an entire subculture of music within the folk/country/roots/bluegrass scene.
