This is encouraging and is probably the result of the new young talent which keeps the Bluegrass blood flowing. This generation of Bluegrass musicians are bringing with them a new generation of listeners.

Fiddlin’ Carson Peters & Iron Mountain Light Up the Fold Saturday

Fiddlin’ Carson Peters & Iron MountainSaturday, November 5th, 2016, at 7:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert by Fiddlin’ Carson Peters & Iron Mountain. This concert will mark Carson’s first performance at the Fold with his new group, Iron Mountain. They’ll be coming back to the Fold soon to headline the 9th Annual Janette Carter Gospel Show on Sunday, November 20th, 2016, at 2:30 p.m.

Lonesome River BandGalax, VA -- Renowned, award-winning bluegrass group, Lonesome River Band, takes the stage on Saturday, August 27, at the Blue Ridge Music Center, milepost 213 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Carson Peters & Iron Mountain will kick off the evening of fine bluegrass at 7 p.m.

Fiddlin’ Carson PetersSaturday, July 2nd, 2016, at 7:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert by the Fiddlin’ Carson Peters Band. Admission to the concert is $10 for adults, children 6 to 11 $1, under age 6 free. There will be a film crew from a TV pilot entitled “Where I’m From” that focuses on Appalachia and small town America at the Fold that night doing interviews and filming the show. In addition, Appalachian Trail will be special guests performing during part of the show.

Fiddlin’ Carson PetersHiltons, VA -- Carson Peters, or “Fiddlin’ Carson Peters,” as he is becoming known, started playing fiddle at the ripe old age of three when his parents bought him a 1/8 size fiddle. By age four, he was playing in fiddle competitions and jamming at musical festivals. Carson has continued to hone the fiddling and singing talents that God so graciously blessed him with and has won many competitions along the way. Saturday, November 14th, 2015, at 7:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert by the Fiddlin’ Carson Peters Band.

Admission to the concert is $10 for adults, children 6 to 11 $1, under age 6 free. Nine-year old Carson Peters, or “Fiddlin’ Carson Peters,” as he is becoming known, is a true musical prodigy. He is quickly making a name for himself with his fiddle by winning competitions and entertaining audiences across the region. Carson lives with his parents, Jamie and Robin Peters, in Piney Flats, Tennessee. They noticed at a very early age that he could keep time with any tune being played by clapping his hands or tapping his feet. His special talent for music became apparent after he taught himself to play “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” at the ripe old age of two on a ukulele that his grandmother bought him.

Special Carter Fold Show on Wednesday, May 13th

This concert is a special concert for a group of European country music enthusiasts organized by the Phil Mack International Country Show. There will be a group of over 100 visitors from Europe attending the show. The concert is open to the public. Come out and join us for this special concert. We need help showcasing our region’s southern hospitality and talent for our European visitors. Admission to the concert is $10 for adults, children 6 to 11 $1, under age 6 free.

Fiddlin Carson Peters to Tape Song of the Mountains

Carson PetersMarion, VA -- Nine year old Carson Peters recently appeared on the Jay Leno Show. This young man from Piney Flats, Tennessee amazes audiences wherever he performs including Leno and the national television audience a few weeks ago. In 2008, Carson and his parents began attending Old-time and Bluegrass festivals where Carson could hear and jam with some very talented musicians as well as compete in youth fiddle competitions. His most noteworthy contest wins have taken place at the Bluegrass and Old-time Fiddlers’ Convention in Mt. Airy, NC where he has received first place in the Youth Old-time Fiddle, Bluegrass Fiddle and Youth Folk Song categories. He has also received the most promising young talent award at this festival in multiple years. Carson was also named Tennessee State Peewee Fiddle Champion for 2010 in Clarksville, Tennessee and has also won first place in the Youth Old-Time and the Youth Bluegrass Fiddle category at the famous Old Fiddlers’ Convention in Galax, Virginia.
