Found: The Story Behind the Song

The Bankesters: FoundThis Able Veteran is a program that provides service dogs to our veterans in need. Primarily PTSD service dog training and then providing the dogs as needed. This Able Veteran program is the focus on the song "Found" by The Bankesters. In the video below, the band talks about the program and the song.

Support Musicians Against Childhood Cancer Beginning Today

Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme OutThe annual Musicians Against Childhood Cancer (MACC) begins today! A magnificent lineup of bluegrass music artists will be performing for this 4-day event. 30th Annual MACC/Bluegrass Classic at Hoover Y-Park, Columbus, Ohio. The dates for the music festival are July 16 - 19, 2014. Proceeds from this festival will benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Since the year 2000, MACC and you have donated $755,690.00 to St. Jude and the Y.M.C.A., helping children around the world. This year will be the 15th Year for Musicians Against Childhood Cancer. Support this worth while event even if you can't be there in person.

Musicians Against Childhood Cancer July 16-19

Proceeds from this festival will benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Since the year 2000, MACC and you have donated $755,690.00 to St. Jude and the Y.M.C.A., helping children around the world. This year will be the 15th Year for Musicians Against Childhood Cancer. Adkins Productions and The Bluegrass Classic with the help of many musicians have founded Musicians Against Childhood Cancer, an annual charitable event to benefit children with life threatening illnesses.

Detour Bluegrass Band Continues Support of Homeless Veterans

Detour Bluegrass BandTraverse City, MI -- Detour bluegrass band is proud to announce they will donate proceeds from the sales of their new song, "Soldier's Sorrow" to Goodwill’s Patriot Place project. "Soldier's Sorrow" appears on Detour's album Going Nowhere Fast recently released on Mountain Fever Records. The label has generously offered to match dollar for dollar, up to $1,000 in sales, to the organization.

John Santa Rounding up Marathon Jam 2014 Jammers for Charity

For the sixth year in a row, the Chapel Hill American Legion Post 6 and VFW will host their annual fundraising event, The Marathon Jamm for charity! Show your support for our troops and their brave families! You and your instrument can make the world a better place! Play Music - Raise Money. Join the jam. The Marathon Jam is a 12-hour annual jam started in Chapel Hill, N.C. to raise funds for the Ft. Bragg Fisher House Foundation and to honor our military. Primarily of bluegrass music, the "Mostly Bluegrass" Marathon Jam takes place on Saturday Feb 22th 2014, with jams from across the United States and in Baghdad Iraq, Afghanistan and possibly Germany. This is the 6th consecutive year for the Marathon Jam. The Fisher House (www.fisherhouse.org) is an organization that supplies room and board to the families of soldiers recovering in VA hospitals away from their homes

Deering, Avett Brothers, Cheerwine Team Up for Charity

The Avett Brothers with Jamie Deering and Legendary Giveback II Deering BanjoThe Avett Brothers teamed up with Cheerwine, again this year to present the Legendary Giveback II, a one-night-only charity benefit concert at North Charleston Coliseum in South Carolina. This took place last Thursday night and I was honored to attend and present 2013’s Legendary Giveback II Deering Banjo! It was personally signed by The Avett Brothers the night of the concert and is now up for auction until November 25th.
