After the success of the inaugural Grateful Ball in St. Louis, the bands decided to make a tour out of it! The ball consists of a full set from each band and then a set with both bands on stage together playing the songs of the Grateful Dead. The Travelin’ McCourys do not stand still. They are on the road—and online—entertaining audiences with live shows that include some of the best musicians and singers from all genres. It’s always different, always exciting, and always great music.

Town Mountain to Release Renditions of Two Grateful Dead Tunes

Town Mountain - The Dead SessionAsheville, NC -- Town Mountain is excited to announce the independent release of Town Mountain: The Dead Session on Friday, November 13, 2015. “Each member of this band has enjoyed the music of the Grateful Dead for quite some time,” says vocalist and guitarist Robert Greer. “It seemed only fitting for Town Mountain to pay respect to some musical heroes in this year, their 50th year of existence.” They recorded an impromptu set of two of their favorite songs from the Grateful Dead’s catalog, “Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo” and “Big River” at the widely acclaimed Echo Mountain Recording Studios in their hometown of Asheville, NC.

Town Mountain New Recording Project of Two Grateful Dead Tunes

Town MountainAsheville, NC -- Town Mountain is heading into the studio for an impromptu recording session during the summer of 2015. For this impromptu summer project, Town Mountain will be cutting two songs to pay tribute to The Grateful Dead. The Dead has had a huge influence on Town Mountain as a whole and each of its members. Banjoist Jesse Langlais says, “We want to honor their 50 year mark tour with Town Mountain renditions of two of our favorite Grateful Dead songs.” Look for these two new tunes this festival season.

Keller Williams’ Grateful Grass Release New Album

27th Annual KPFA Grateful Dead Marathon

Sycamore Slough String BandOakland, CA --Longtime host of KPFA’s Dead to the World, David Gans, is a busy guy: working on a new book, performing solo and with others – and as always at this time of year – combing through music collections (his own and others), preparing for the annual phenomenon known as the Grateful Dead Marathon. Now in its 27th year, this fundraiser for KPFA is a 16-hour extravaganza hailed by Deadheads and music lovers around the world, who can access the fun via the airwaves and streaming on the web. The Marathon is scheduled for Saturday, February 23, 9:00am - Sunday, February, 24 1:00am on KPFA-FM, 94.1.

Bluegrass Icon Jesse McReynolds' Tribute to the Grateful Dead Aug 4th

Jesse McReynolds Greatful DeadThe music made famous by the legendary Grateful Dead will be heard at the World Famous Station Inn on Thursday, August 4th. Grand Ole Opry star and bluegrass luminary Jesse McReynolds will mark the Nashville debut of music from his newest album Songs of the Grateful Dead: A Tribute to Jerry Garcia & Robert Hunter in a special concert. This is Jesse's most ambitious project to date combining the unique music of the iconic rock band with his signature bluegrass style. Grateful Dead historian Dennis McNally says, "If Jerry [Garcia] had managed to live to 80 and been from the South, he'd sound like Jesse McReynolds. It's one of the great American voices singing great American songs."
