Musicians Against Childhood Cancer July 20-23, 2016

MACC 2015Galena, OH -- This year, Darrel Adkins and The Bluegrass Classic present the Annual Musicians Against Childhood Cancer (MACC) in memory of Mandy Adkins. The event will take place at Hoover Y-Park in Columbus, Ohio July 20 through 23, 2016. This annual bluegrass music festival benefits St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Musicians Against Childhood Cancer assists the victims of Childhood Cancer, their families, treating physicians and research facilities in the diagnosis, treatment and eradication of childhood cancer to provide financial assistance to the victims, their families and physicians and research facilities and to provide such service or services free of charge.

Adkins Productions and The Bluegrass Classic with the help of many musicians have founded Musicians Against Childhood Cancer, an annual charitable event to benefit children with life threatening illnesses.

Flatt Lonesome Visits St. Jude Children's Hospital

Flatt LonesomeMemphis, TN -- Flatt Lonesome, along with Darrel & Phyllis Adkins of the Musicians Against Childhood Cancer Festival, visited St. Jude Children's Hospital on Monday Feb, 3rd. Every year the MACC presents a substantial check to the children's hospital from their festival. The band took a tour of the facilities with Suzanne Baker, PhD, Co-leader, Neurobiology and Brain Tumor Program. Attached is a photo of the entire group at St. Jude during the visit. The MACC Festival is held every July near Columbus, OH and proceeds go to St. Jude. Musicians Against Childhood Cancer has donated over $750,000 to St. Jude since the year 2000.

It was presented during the IBMA Awards Show held last week at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. "I am honored to accept the IBMA Recorded Event of the Year award on behalf of the artists, producers and songwriters of the song ‘Life Goes On’ and for everyone involved in the entire album," said Darrel Adkins this week.

Back in 2006, Skaggs Family Records released Celebration of Life: Musicians Against Childhood Cancer (MACC), a two-CD collection with over two hours of live music that drew from the 2000-2005 MACC Festival in Columbus, Ohio. It became one of bluegrass music's top ten releases in 2006 and won the International Bluegrass Music Assn.'s Album of the Year Award. On the Rural Rhythm Records label, "Life Goes On" is the 2012 sequel to the original release and draws material from the 2006-2011 festivals.
