At The Feed & Seed Awarded Best Documentary

Lonesome Will Mullins BandAt The Feed & Seed, an independent film written and directed by April Janow and Dax Cuesta, recently won the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the 15th Annual Bare Bones International Film and Music Festival, held April 3-13, 2014 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. At The Feed & Seed, also a Best Music Documentary nominee, was screened at the historic Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame and was followed by a rousing bluegrass and claw-hammer banjo performance by Lonesome Will Mullins and the Virginia Playboys, one of the film’s featured bands.

Lonesome Will Mullins BandLonesome Will Mullins and the Virginia Playboys are the featured band in the documentary At the Feed & Seed about the historic Feed & Seed building in Fletcher NC. The building serves as a church on Sunday and a bluegrass venue on Friday and Saturday nights. April Janow and Dax Cuesta of SIC Films are the producers. The film will be making it's debut at the Bear Bones Film & Music Festival in Muskogee, OK on April 5th, along with a performance by the band, which consists of Will Mullins , Adam Burrows, Jake Burrows and Dorse Sears.

Lonesome Will Mullins BandLonesome Will Mullins grew up near Clintwood, Virginia, in a house that was filled with family musicians and plenty of bluegrass, old time, and country music. He learned to play the banjo and guitar as a teenager, and before long he was playing in several bands while honing his trade by studying the work of bluegrass legends like Bill Monroe, Jimmy Martin, and Dr. Ralph Stanley. To say he learned well would be an understatement. Saturday, November 30th, 2013, at 7:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert by Lonesome Will Mullins and the Virginia Playboys. Admission to the concert is $10 for adults, $1 for children 6 to 11, under age 6 free. At 7:00 p.m., there will be a special set of Carter Family music with special guest Ronnie Williams. In addition, the music center and the Virginia Playboys will be collecting toys for local, needy children at Christmas that night. Anyone attending the concert wishing to participate in the toy drive should bring an unwrapped toy.

Carter Fold to Host CD Release Party for Lonesome Will Mullins New CD

Lonesome Will Mullins BandHiltons, VA -- Friday, July 19th, 2013, at 8:00 p.m. the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will host a free concert and CD release party for the newest CD by bluegrass music artist Lonesome Will Mullins and the Virginia Playboys. Entitled Fly Me to Frisco, it was recorded at the Grammy award winning Maggard Studio. The CD features classic bluegrass, some old time tunes, clawhammer numbers, and gospel.
