IBMA To Open World of Bluegrass Registration Soon

World of Bluegrass Business ConferenceNashville, TN -- The International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA)’s World of Bluegrass 2014 event, September 30 – October 4 in Raleigh, North Carolina, will open conference registration, hotel reservations, Wide Open Bluegrass festival tickets, and Bluegrass Ramble Showcase passes for IBMA members on Monday, March 31, and for the general public on Monday, April 14.

IBMA Accepting 2014 Bluegrass Ramble Showcase Applications

Alane AnnoNashville, TN -- /IBMA/ Up to 50 showcase artists will be invited for the International Bluegrass Music Associations's (IBMA) World of Bluegrass 2014, depending on the number of applicants and the qualifications of groups that apply. Each official showcase act may perform more than once during World of Bluegrass Week in some combination of the various venues participating in the annual event. There will also be opportunities for merchandise sales and, potentially, a share in showcase-generated revenues after off-site venue expenses are covered. If you are interested in being an official showcase act for World of Bluegrass 2014, the IBMA is now accepting applications online using a new and easy online submission process this year.

Raleigh's World of Bluegrass a Huge Success for IBMA

World of Bluegrass 2013The World of Bluegrass trade show, conference, awards show and Wide Open Bluegrass festival of the IBMA was held for the first time in Raleigh, North Carolina. The International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) reports that the event generated $10 million in direct visitor spending and and %4 million more in media value. In addition, the cumulative attendance for the week was around 150,000 including the 140,000 for the festival, 2,259 for the awards show and the 4,635 for the business conference. No matter how you cut it, this represents a huge success for the inaugural Raleigh event.

Alison Krauss Unable to Perform at Wide Open Bluegrass Festival

Alison KraussNashville, TN -- Performer Alison Krauss will be unable to perform, as previously announced, as part of the “epic collaboration” set planned for Friday, September 27 during IBMA’s Wide Open Bluegrass Festival in Raleigh, North Carolina, at Red Hat Amphitheater. As per the artist’s representative: “Alison Krauss was recently diagnosed with a vocal condition called dysphonia. Alison has been advised to have vocal rest, and therefore will not be performing at Wide Open Bluegrass next weekend. We anticipate a smooth, quick recovery given proper treatment and adequate rest.”
