IBMM Receives Large Donation from H. Conway Gandy Estate

Conway Gandy, which includes his rare and extensive collection of bluegrass LPs, CDs, cassette tapes, books, and recorded radio shows.

Noam Pikelny & Danny Paisley Highlight IBMM Spring Concert Series

The series includes six shows beginning February 17 and running through April 28. This season’s lineup includes award-winning and nationally recognized artists. The series kicks-off February 17 with Lexington, KY based group, The Wooks, who will also make their first ROMP festival debut this June.

International Bluegrass Music Center - Take Your SeatHere is your chance to make a name for yourself and benefit the International Bluegrass Music Center & Museum at the same time. You are invited to take your seat as a seat donor. Your gift will allow you to become a permanent part of the 450 seat theater in the International Bluegrass Music Center. Your name – or the name of a group, organization or loved one you choose to honor – will be engraved on a permanent brass plate on a theater seat.

International Bluegrass Music Museum Fall Concert Lineup

The International Bluegrass Music MuseumOwensboro, KY -- The International Bluegrass Music Museum has annouced their fall benefit concert schedule. Money raised from this concert series help the museum continue our efforts to preserve and honor the legacy of bluegrass music including music educational programs, general museum operating expenses, the Video Oral History Project (VOHP) and artifact collection efforts. Season passes available for $104 beginning Wednesday August 24 at 10 am CST; passes include one ticket to each show in the series. If series tickets do not sell out, individual show tickets will be available within the coming weeks.

Ground Breaking for New Bluegrass Museum Next Week

New International Bluegrass Music Museum GroundbreakingOwensboro, KY -- Together with the City of Owensboro, Mayor Ron Payne, the Daviess County Fiscal Court and Judge Executive Al Mattingly, the International Bluegrass Music Museum and Hall of Fame is set to break ground on a new $15.4 million facility Thursday June 23 at Noon at 311 West 2nd Street, Owensboro. This fully funded project is a collaboration between the City of Owensboro, the State of Kentucky and the IBMM.

Chris JoslinMerry Christmas from everyone at the International Bluegrass Music Museum! As many of you know, I am the new guy and this year has been all about change and adjustment for me and my family. In addition to learning the ropes in a new job, my daughters are adjusting to life as college students, my wife is transitioning from her job of almost 12 years, we are selling our home in Nashville and settling in as new residents of Owensboro, Kentucky. Many of you have navigated similar waters at some point in your life. As one might imagine, this has resulted in a mixture of excitement and joy along with a touch of hand wringing about embracing so much change. Fortunately for me, joy and excitement about the future has far outpaced everything else as 2016 quickly approaches.

The series will feature seven bluegrass and folk bands from across the United States starting with Mipso, a four-piece out of North Carolina on August 26.

Known for his mastery of Monroe-style playing, Mike is a preservationist who continues teaching the music that Bill Monroe innovated and which set the standard for generations of bluegrass mandolin players to come. Now making her living as a full-time musician in Nashville, TN, Vickie originally hailed from Paducah, KY, where the young adult acoustic music scene is jumping. She and her stellar bandmates are performing 25 concerts in the Bluegrass Museum's "Bluegrass in the Schools" program in January, 2014. Centered on powerful vocals and poignant songwriting, the Vickie Vaughn Band blends tradition with youthful funk and energy.

Upcoming Fundraiser Event to Support The New International Bluegrass Music Center

Bill Monroe by Aaron KizerOwensboro, KY -- On July 25 th, sports celebrities native to Owensboro, Kentucky -- NASCAR legends Darrell and Michael Waltrip, world champion Moto GP Nicky Hayden "The Kentucky Kid" and brothers Tommy and Roger, NBA superstar Rex Chapman, Major Leaguer Brad Wilkerson, Kentucky basketball superstar Bobby Watson and Basketball Hall of Famer Cliff Hagan -- will be honored as inductees to the Owensboro Walk of Fame. The tribute will occur at the Hometown Heroes Celebrity Golf Scramble to benefit the new International Bluegrass Music Center. It is sponsored by the Owensboro-Daviess County Convention and Visitors Bureau. This event includes a golf scramble at the Owensboro Country Club followed by a reception hosted by the City of Owensboro including entertainment by these renowned Bluegrass musicians: Christian Sedelmyer, Todd Phillips, Scott Simontacchi, and David Golden.
