Bill Keith Takes Home the Coveted Brown Jug Award

Bill KeithWell folks, once again it’s time for the Park Slope Bluegrass & Old-Time Music Jamboree’s Brown Jug Award. The Brown Jug Award is the brainchild of James Reams, a bluegrass musician and bandleader for over 20 years, who conceived of it as a way to recognize people in the Northeast whose impact on the music deserved to be honored but who might be less likely to be recognized by national organizations since for some of them (unlike this year’s recipient), their impact was only regional in nature.

Carol Beaugard Leaving Airwaves After 30 Years

Carol BeaugardTeaneck, NJ -- Celebrated bluegrass radio personality Carol Beaugard is leaving the airwaves after 30 years of hosting her syndicated show, “Lonesome Pine RFD” to pursue a professional career in acting. Beaugard created the popular program in 1985 and broadcasts live weekly from the studios of 89.1, WFDU-FM (streamed live on, on the Teaneck campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University. Since 2007 the show has been carried on WAMU’s “Bluegrass Country” headquartered in Washington, D.C., heard at 105.5 FM, in HD radio at 88.5 Channel 2, and worldwide online at Her last live broadcast on WFDU will be on Friday, June 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon (EDT) and will be taped for later broadcast on WAMU.

Bluegrass Personality Carol Beaugard Awarded Brown Jug Honors

This award recognizes her contributions to bluegrass music in the northeast. She follows a list of well known recipients including Stephanie Ledgin, Bill Knowlton, Pat Conte and Doug Tuchman, among others.

Carol Beaugard to Make Off-Broadway Debut

Carol BeaugardNew York, NY -- Well known bluegrass radio DJ and artist, Carol Beaugard, is making her Off-Broadway debut in “The Plastic Couch” as part of the Strawberry Theatre Festival at the Hudson Guild Theater located at 441 West 26th Street in New York City. Bluegrass Artist/Personality Carol Beaugard to Star in ‘Plaza Suite’
