Farm & Fun TimeBristol, VA/TN -- Radio Bristol Presents: Farm & Fun Time, a live radio show at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum, on Thursday, July 14, at 7:00 p.m. Hosted by Radio Bristol’s Kris Truelsen, the show will feature performances by Missy Raines & The New Hip and Danny Paisley & The Southern Grass. Hosted by Kris Truelsen and featuring musical breaks by Bill and the Belles, the program also features the Appalachian Sustainable Development Farm Report with Corbin Hayslett, a recipe segment, and much more!

Birthplace of Country Music Receives Multiple Honors

Birthplace of Country Music HonorsBristol, VA/TN -- The Birthplace of Country Music (BCM), parent organization of the Birthplace of Country Music Museum, the Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion music festival, and Radio Bristol, took home top honors at the Northeast Tennessee Tourism Association's (NETTA) 19th annual Pinnacle Awards, including "Best of Show" for BCM's interactive remote exhibit at the Bristol, Virginia Welcome Center. BCM received two Pinnacle Awards for its public relations and advertising campaigns surrounding the CD release of Orthphonic Joy: The 1927 Bristol Sessions Revisited, an award was given for the organization's website, and one for the economic impact of Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion, which is estimated to add more than $16 million in tax revenue for Bristol and the surrounding region.

Now, Radio Bristol revisits the live music radio hour with one of old-time music’s most amazing acts, the Foghorn Stringband, along with Bill & the Belles and Corbin Hayslett.

Documentary Now Filming to Recreate Historic Bristol Sessions

Birthplace of Country Music Receives Virginia Tourism Corporation Grant

Birthplace of Country MusicBristol, TN/VA -- Governor Terry McAuliffe announced that the Birthplace of Country Music (BCM) received $10,000 from the Virginia Tourism Corporation Marketing Leverage Program grant fund. In total VTC awarded more than $796,000 for 45 tourism marketing projects across the state to help increase visitation and revenue for Virginia’s localities through tourism.

The event will take place Thursday, June 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the Performance Theater at the museum.

BCM Achieves NETTA "Best of Show" Two Years Running

BCM AwardsBristol, VA/TN -- The Birthplace of Country Music (BCM) is proud to announce the organization has achieved "Best of Show," Northeast Tennessee Tourism Association's (NETTA) highest honor, for the Grand Opening of the Birthplace of Country Music Museum (BCMM). BCM, parent organization of BCMM and the annual Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion music festival, also took home three (3) Pinnacle Awards and a Merit Award at NETTA's annual awards luncheon held at the Foundation Events Facility in Historic Downtown Bristol on Thursday. This is the second "Best of Show" honor for BCM, having won last year for Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion.

Celebrating the impact that the 1927 Bristol Sessions had on the country music industry, Orthophonic Joy: The 1927 Bristol Sessions Revisited features re-creations of the original Bristol Sessions recordings by country music stars including, Ashley & Shannon Campbell, Ashley Monroe, Brad Paisley, Carl Jackson, Corbin Hayslett, Dolly Parton, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Emmylou Harris, Jesse McReynolds, Keb´ Mo´, Larry Cordle & The Virginia Luthiers, Marty Stuart, Sheryl Crow, Steve Martin & the Steep Canyon Rangers, The Chuck Wagon Gang, The Church Sisters, The Shotgun Rubies, and Vince Gill. The recording project also includes narration of the 1927 Bristol Sessions history by famed Opry host Eddie Stubbs.

Jayme Stone's Lomax Project Featuring Tim O'Brien

Bristol, VA/TN -- Birthplace of Country Music and The Paramount Center for the Arts present Jayme Stone's Lomax Project featuring Tim O'Brien on the Paramount stage Sunday, May 3 at 2:00 p.m., sponsored by the Tennessee Arts Commission. Two-time Juno-winning banjoist and composer Jayme Stone collaborates with Grammy-winning Americana artist Tim O'Brien, and others, for a re-imagining of songs collected by renowned folklorist and field pioneer Alan Lomax. This "collaboratory" brings together some of North America's most distinctive and creative roots musicians to revive and recycle traditional music.
