Dr. Banjo Says Picking Season is Coming. Want to jam?

Pete Wernick Bluegrass CampRight about this time of year, many pickers start thinking "This summer I'm going to show my stuff as a musician." If you're starting to get those thoughts, I'd like you to know of a way to help that to actually happen.

Dr. Banjo's Four 2015 Camps

Pete Wernick Bluegrass CampJam Camp or Bluegrass Camp? The two are not the same! Bluegrass Camps concentrate on small group playing and overall ear skills (as in our jam camps), but add daily classes by-instrument and on Bluegrass trio harmony singing. Additional sessions cover songwriting, bluegrass history, practice routines, "band lab", and more. With good use of expert staff and space, we gladly welcome everyone from novice jammers to performing bands.

All-Europe Jam CampPete Wernick introduced his Bluegrass Jam Camp to Europe March 22-24, with twenty-four pickers from seven countries converging for three days on the Hotel Svornost in Prague, Czech Republic. Having taught camps throughout the U.S. since 1980, Wernick saw this first Jam Camp in Europe as a forward step for bluegrass teaching.

Bluegrass Jam Class coming to Palisade Bluegrass Festival

Pete (Dr. Banjo) WernickDo you bring your instrument to a festival but feel shy about taking it out and actually playing with other people? You are not alone, even if it sometimes feels that way! For years I've been helping closet pickers start jamming, playing real bluegrass at slow speeds, and learning the ear skills and ensemble skills that are hard to pick up on your own. My approach has worked for so many, I am now certifying Wernick Method instructors to teach bluegrass jamming in communities nationwide.
