Ralph Stanley Farewell Tour 80+ Date Event Begins Oct. 16

Dr. Ralph StanleyNashville, TN -- Now 86 years old and still in superb voice, the revered country and bluegrass singer Dr. Ralph Stanley will commence his final tour Oct. 16, 2013. It will run through December 2014. The event, which is projected to encompass more than 80 shows at festivals, folk clubs and performing arts centers, is being billed as Man Of Constant Sorrow Tour: The Dr.’s Farewell. (The title “Dr.” comes from the fact that Stanley holds an honorary doctorate in music from Lincoln Memorial University and has worn that title since it was awarded in 1976.)

Fold Hosts Nathan Stanley & The Clinch Mountain Boys with Ralph Stanley

Nathan and Ralph StanleyHiltons, VA -- Saturday, September 7th, 2013, at 7:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert by Nathan Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys. Special guest will be Dr. Ralph Stanley. Admission to the concert is $15 for adults, age 11 and under $5, and under 6 free. A large tour group from Ireland will be attending the show. They try to make an annual visit to the U.S., and they always visit the Fold when they do. Nathan Stanley is the oldest grandson of Ralph Stanley. He picked up the spoons at six years old, playing on stage with the Clinch Mountain Boys, and became a crowd favorite. He has spent several years playing mandolin for the group. More recently, Nathan has begun to sing lead and play rhythm guitar. He has released four CDs, two of which are gospel.

 CJ the DJMarty McKinney is a bluegrass music Disk Jockey (DJ) and has been playing bluegrass and country music on the radio for almost twenty years. Recently a good friend of his, Carl Jarrell Jr., better known as CJ the DJ, who has also worked in radio for about 25 years, teamed up with the legendary Dr. Ralph Stanley and recorded one of McKinney's songs, titled "Bluegrass Rulz." The song pays special tribute to past, present and future generations of bluegrass music artists. In fact Tuesday, April 3rd, it was the most downloaded song on Airplay Direct.

James Alan Shelton Re-releasing Two Early Albums as One 26-Song CD

James Alan SheltonNashville, TN -- Bluegrass music artist James Alan Shelton, Ralph Stanley's lead guitarist for the past 18 years, has responded to fan requests by compiling two of his early and nearing out-of-print albums into a single CD of 26 songs. Titled James Alan Shelton: The Copper Creek Sessions, the package contains the complete original contents of Road To Coeburn (1997) and Guitar Tracks (1999), both of which debuted on the Copper Creek label.
