January Jams Returns to Abingdon with National Acts

The Crooked Road Sets Stage for First Ever Mountains of Music Homecoming

Mountains of Music HomecomingAbingdon, VA -- The Crooked Road, Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail, is pleased to announce the Mountains of Music Homecoming, a nine-day celebration of the communities in Southwest Virginia – their heritage music, cultural assets and outdoor amenities. This inaugural event, covering 19 counties, four cities, and over 50 communities, will be held June 12 - 20, 2015 and features Crooked Road concerts in more than 30 communities, dozens of community cultural experiences, and over 70 existing traditional music-related concerts, jam sessions and festivals.

Abingdon Crooked Road Music Fest 2014Abdingdon, VA -- From September 25th-28th, 2014, the third annual Abingdon Crooked Road Music Fest will fill the grounds of Heartwood in Abingdon with the sounds of rich history and musical heritage of Southwest Virginia, home to The Crooked Road: Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail. The four-day event includes performances and workshops that illustrate the wide variety of heritage music forms the region is known for, including old time string band music, hard driving bluegrass, guitar virtuosos, duets, and more. “We always try to provide a nice mixture of the traditional music forms that have been preserved in Southwest Virginia for generations,” said Jack Hinshelwood, Crooked Road executive director. “People not that familiar with traditional music are often pleasantly surprised at just how diverse it is.”

Chatham County Line Takes Stage On 6/13

Chatham County LineAbingdon, VA—The Town of Abingdon has created a Thursday Jams concert series for the summer as part of the Abingdon Music Experience. Starting May 16th until September 19th, there will be nationally recognized bands showcased at the Abingdon Market Pavilion each Thursday. Each concert will start at 6:30pm and will be FREE to the public. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets. There will be food and beverage vendors serving BBQ, Hamburgers and Pizza. No coolers are allowed. The events will be held rain or shine. On June 13th, 2013, Chatham County Line will take the stage at the Abingdon Market Pavilion.

The third concert in the January Jams series at Barter Theatre presented by Eastman Credit Union will feature the Steep Canyon Rangers with The Black Lillies opening. These two bands will perform LIVE this Saturday, January 19th on the Barter Theatre Main Stage.

Abingdon Crooked Road Festival Presents Youth Music Showcase

On Friday, October 5th, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. at Latture Field in Abingdon, the festival will open with performances by three outstanding regional youth groups: The Wright Kids, Adam McPeak & Mountain Thunder, and The Iron Mountain Ridgerunners.
