Fiddlin Carson Peters to Tape Song of the Mountains

Carson PetersMarion, VA -- Nine year old Carson Peters recently appeared on the Jay Leno Show. This young man from Piney Flats, Tennessee amazes audiences wherever he performs including Leno and the national television audience a few weeks ago. In 2008, Carson and his parents began attending Old-time and Bluegrass festivals where Carson could hear and jam with some very talented musicians as well as compete in youth fiddle competitions. His most noteworthy contest wins have taken place at the Bluegrass and Old-time Fiddlers’ Convention in Mt. Airy, NC where he has received first place in the Youth Old-time Fiddle, Bluegrass Fiddle and Youth Folk Song categories. He has also received the most promising young talent award at this festival in multiple years. Carson was also named Tennessee State Peewee Fiddle Champion for 2010 in Clarksville, Tennessee and has also won first place in the Youth Old-Time and the Youth Bluegrass Fiddle category at the famous Old Fiddlers’ Convention in Galax, Virginia.

Sing Me a Carter Family SongThe official cd release celebration for Dennis Cash's latest project on Blue Circle Records, Sing Me A Carter Family Song, will be held Monday, July 1 at the Picking Porch in Bristol, TN. The Picking Porch is located at 620 State Street in Bristol. The celebration starts at 7:00PM.

Dennis Cash Debuts Sing Me A Carter Family Song At IBMA

Dennis CashDennis Cash, known to many bluegrass fans as co-founder (with Wayne Ratley), tenor singer and mandolin player for Carolina Sonshine, has a new solo project called Sing Me A Carter Family Song. The album is soon to be released on the Blue Circle label. Blue Circle owners Tom T and Dixie Hall composed a new song for the album called A Carter Family Song. The remaining titles are all from the extensive catalog of The Original Carter Family, A.P., Sara, and Maybelle. IBMA Hall of Fame member Bill Clifton is writing the liner notes for the album and was instrumental in its song selection. Clifton has said he feels that Dennis is “the 21st century's finest interpreter of Carter Family songs”.
