Carter Fold Presents New Ballard’s Branch Bogtrotters Saturday

New Ballard's Branchy BogtrottersThe New Ballard’s Branch Bogtrotters took their group’s name from the original Bogtrotters, the famous Galax, Virginia, area band of the 1930s, and because band leader Dennis Hall lives on Ballard’s Branch. Galax is home to the world-renowned Old Time Fiddler’s Convention, and the area has traditionally produced some of the country’s finest old time string bands. Carrying on that rich musical tradition, the New Ballard’s Branch Bogtrotters features Dennis Hall on guitar, Leon Frost on mandolin, Jesse Morris on bass, Eddie Bond on fiddle, and Josh Ellis on banjo. The guys have been playing together for over nearly fifteen years. Saturday, November 21st, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert by the New Ballard’s Branch Bogtrotters old time band.

Jeff Little Trio & New Ballards Branch Bogtrotters at Blue Ridge Music Center July 4

New Ballards Branch BogtrottersGalax, VA -- To celebrate the Fourth of July weekend, the Blue Ridge Music Center is welcoming The Jeff Little Trio and New Ballards Branch Bogtrotters to the amphitheater stage on Saturday, July 4, at 7 p.m., for a Holiday Dance Party. A special banjo exhibit will be featured daily. During the concert, The Galax Smokehouse will be on site serving its signature barbecue, down-home sides, drinks, and desserts.

40th Annual Carter Family Fold Festival Aug 1-2, 2014

Now in its’ 40th year, the Carter Family Memorial Music Festival has attracted audiences from around the globe, all of whom come to the Carter Fold for its’ good music, down-home atmosphere, and food – and then leave with an abundance of precious memories. Saturday, March 16th, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert by the New Ballard’s Branch Bogtrotters, an old time band. Admission to the concert is $8 for adults, $1 for children 6 to11, under age 6 free.

Bluegrass Pioneer Melvin Goins and Balsam Range on Song of the Mountains

Melvin GoinsMarion, VA -- The legendary bluegrass music artist Melvin Goins and his band Windy Mountain will be part of the fantastic lineup of talent for Song of the Mountains on September 1st at the Lincoln Theatre. Joining Melvin Goins on the show will be Balsam Range who will be making their second appearance on the award winning public television series which is currently in their eighth year of tapings.
