Big Country Bluegrass Welcomes Tim Laughlin to the Lineup

Tim Laughlin2013 promises to be a banner year for Big Country Bluegrass! And to start it off right, the band has an exciting announcement to make: Tim Laughlin has just joined the Big Country Bluegrass family, playing fiddle, twin mandolin and singing harmony. Tim's musical resume is long and storied. He has worked with many of the greats in the bluegrass music industry.

Joe Mullins & The Radio Ramblers Celebrate #1 Song and New Band Member

duane SparksXenia, OH -- Joe Mullins & The Radio Ramblers are welcoming a new year with open arms as they celebrate the success of their most recent Rebel Records CD, They're Playing My Song. Released October 2012, the project debuted this month on Bluegrass Unlimited's Top 15 Albums chart at #13. The CD's first single, "Bottom Of A Mountain" has been very well received by radio programmers and is #1 on the current Bluegrass Today Monthly Airplay chart. The song also moves up 6 spots to #24 on Bluegrass Unlimited's National bluegrass Survey Top 30 Songs chart. In addition to receiving a glowing review in the January issue of Bluegrass Unlimited, They're Playing My Song has also made its way onto several "Best of 2012" lists including Top KBCS Releases of 2012 (Bluegrass Ramble with Tom Voorhees and Tom Keeney) and WHUS "Bluegrass Cafe" with Amy Orlomoski.

Becky Buller Joins Sweethearts of Bluegrass Darin and Brooke Aldridge

Czech Republic's G-runs 'n Roses Prepares for 2013 with New Line-up

G-runs 'n RosesG-runs 'n Roses tested the chemistry this year with their new line-up and the mix is ready for the 2013 season. The bluegrass music group from Europe is also working on a new CD due in April. The new project will include at least six original songs. Along with the new album, the band will offer their first video clip and a new website.

Marty Atkinson and Katy Boyd Release Their Debut CD, “Once in a Bluegrass Moon”

Onece in a Bluegrass MoonMenlo Park, CA -- San Francisco Bay Area-based singer/songwriters Marty Atkinson and Katy Boyd have joined forces to form Blue Cactus Choir and will release their debut album, Once in a Bluegrass Moon, January 15 on Porgy Records. Beautifully recorded by Thom Jutz (Nanci Griffith) at his studio in Nashville, the new CD was produced by Jutz, Atkinson and Boyd and features 21 original songs that focus on relationships, as well as funny, insightful stories and some rough tales of the road, all accented with luxurious vocal harmonies that recall Crosby, Stills & Nash and Fleetwood Mac. Backing the duo is a cadre of Nashville A-list players including Justin Moses (banjo, mandolin, fiddle) and Mark Fein (bass), both of Ricky Skaggs’ band; as well as Fats Kaplin (steel guitar), Gary Smith (piano), Lynn Williams and Steve Brewster (drums) and Thomm Jutz (guitars, keyboards).

The Churchmen Welcome Carroll Arnn to the Band

The ChurchmenBluegrass and gospel music group The Churchmen want to welcome a great friend to the line-up of the band - Carroll Arnn. The band says, "Carroll has been a close associate to the band for many years and it is great to have him on stage with us after all of this time." Carroll first contributed to the band in the 1990's when he penned several songs that The Churchmen recorded. "The King is on His Throne", "The Tie that Binds", and "Sailing with The Savior" are Carroll Arnn originals that were recorded on Churchmen CD's.

Rhonda Vincent Welcomes Bluegrass Artist Josh Williams to The Rage

Sudden Announcement of Acoustic Blue Band Break Up

Corey Zink, Ray Evans and Larry NeuMembers of Acoustic Blue have announced the group has dissolved. According to a press release issued by Larry Neu, "Effective immediately, the Pittsfield, Massachusetts based band, Acoustic Blue has disbanded. Due to irreconcilable differences in the membership, Corey Zink, Ray Evans and Larry Neu have dissolved their partnership with Shaun Batho and will be reforming under a different name. Since the change was quite sudden, the new group will be using the name, 'The Corey Zink Band'."

Matt Wallace Joins Mark Newton and Steve Thomas and the StillHouse Band

Matt WallaceNashville, TN -- Mark Newton and Steve Thomas proudly announce the addition of Matt Wallace to the StillHouse Band line up. Wallace will start performing with the band in the next few weeks during live shows and will be in the studio with Newton and Thomas as the band works on their upcoming CD to be released later this year or early 2013. The addition of Wallace to the group brings a solid, experienced bass player as well as baritone and lead singer to the ensemble.

"Quarterline Road," the kick-off tune from the group's latest CD, A Better Place, has spent two weeks at number 1, one week at number two and one at number 3 on the BluegrassToday.com's weekly airplay chart since its mid-June release; the album is now in the top 50 of Roots Music Report's national folk/bluegrass charts.

New Band Announcement: High Octane Bluegrass by American Drive

Crowe & The New South who are carrying on now that J.D. Crowe has announced his retirement. American Drive includes the talents of: Rickey Wasson (Lead/harmony Vocals, Guitar), Dwight McCall (Lead/Harmony Vocals, Mandolin), Matt DeSpain (Resonator Guitar) and Kyle Perkins (Bass) from The New South, who are joined by Justin Jenkins (Banjo) formerly with the bands Grasstowne and Blue Moon Rising.
