Helen Highwater, Whimsical Goddess of String Music, Becomes a Band

Helen Highwater Band MembersNashville, TN -- It was just another night in Nashville: four friends—revered acoustic musicians—got together in a living room. The music bounced, danced, gathered strength, and lifted them in a way that only happens with the right players. So, they formed a band and named it Helen Highwater—the tough, whimsical goddess of string band music. It’s David Grier on guitar, Missy Raines on bass, Mike Compton on mandolin, Shad Cobb on fiddle, and power vocals from all four. All are bluegrass music veterans.

Gary Robinson, Jr. Joins Cumberland River Bluegrass Music Band

Gary Robinson, Jr.Harlan, KY -- Cumberland River is proud to announce a new band member, multi-instrumentalist Gary Robinson Jr. who joins the group on Lead Guitar. Gary’s incredible talents certainly add to the dynamic sound of this now 6-piece band that includes the talents of: James Dean (Banjo, lead & harmony vocals), Joey Jones (Bass), Dustin Middleton (Mandolin, Lead & Harmony Vocals), Jamie Stewart (Dobro), and Gary’s brother in-law, Brad Gulley (Guitar, Lead & Harmony Vocals).

Sudden Announcement of Acoustic Blue Band Break Up

Corey Zink, Ray Evans and Larry NeuMembers of Acoustic Blue have announced the group has dissolved. According to a press release issued by Larry Neu, "Effective immediately, the Pittsfield, Massachusetts based band, Acoustic Blue has disbanded. Due to irreconcilable differences in the membership, Corey Zink, Ray Evans and Larry Neu have dissolved their partnership with Shaun Batho and will be reforming under a different name. Since the change was quite sudden, the new group will be using the name, 'The Corey Zink Band'."

Matt Wallace Joins Mark Newton and Steve Thomas and the StillHouse Band

Matt WallaceNashville, TN -- Mark Newton and Steve Thomas proudly announce the addition of Matt Wallace to the StillHouse Band line up. Wallace will start performing with the band in the next few weeks during live shows and will be in the studio with Newton and Thomas as the band works on their upcoming CD to be released later this year or early 2013. The addition of Wallace to the group brings a solid, experienced bass player as well as baritone and lead singer to the ensemble.

Roe Entertainment Adds Bluegrass Band Detour to Roster

Detour Bluegrass BandRoe Entertainment recently added Detour to its roster of excellent award-winning bands. Detour is a "bluegrass powerhouse" that features heartfelt originals, tightly focused harmonies, and high-steppin' instrumentals from a superbly talented sextet of veterans of Michigan's bluegrass scene. "Quarterline Road," the kick-off tune from the group's latest CD, A Better Place, has spent two weeks at number 1, one week at number two and one at number 3 on the BluegrassToday.com's weekly airplay chart since its mid-June release; the album is now in the top 50 of Roots Music Report's national folk/bluegrass charts.

New Band Announcement: High Octane Bluegrass by American Drive

American DriveNashville, TN (August 8, 2012) Rural Rhythm Records is proud to announce the formation of the new band American Drive. This high octane bluegrass band includes group members of J.D. Crowe & The New South who are carrying on now that J.D. Crowe has announced his retirement. American Drive includes the talents of: Rickey Wasson (Lead/harmony Vocals, Guitar), Dwight McCall (Lead/Harmony Vocals, Mandolin), Matt DeSpain (Resonator Guitar) and Kyle Perkins (Bass) from The New South, who are joined by Justin Jenkins (Banjo) formerly with the bands Grasstowne and Blue Moon Rising.
