The SteelDrivers Announce New Lead Singer Kelvin Damrell

The GRAMMY® winning Rounder Records act had a record year in 2017, touring across the country and selling out six shows in Nashville alone. The band shared this message on their Facebook page:

Turning Ground Joins Wilson Pickin's Roster

Wilson Pickins Promotions proudly welcomes Kentucky based bluegrass band TURNING GROUND to the agency. The Wilson's met up with the band after a Festival performance several years ago in Ohio and became fast friends. Melanie Wilson says, "Their energy and soul during the performance lit the crowd on fire and after meeting them I knew they were something special on and off stage. I've been a fan and we've been pals ever since."

Justin Harrison Joins Nu-Blu as Band's Newest Member

Justin HarrisonNashville, TN -- With 2018 already in full swing, Nu-Blu is happy to announce the addition of Justin Harrison to the band. The 24-year-old Morehead State University graduate from the Traditional Music Program will serve as the group's new mandolin player. Harrison will join other band members, including lead singer / bass player Carolyn Routh, lead guitarist Daniel Routh and banjo player TJ Honaker.

Justen Haynes Departs Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out

Chris Hill to Garrett Newton Band for 2018

Garrett Newton BandPinecastle recording artist, Garrett Newton Band is excited to welcome Chris Hill to the band for the 2018 season. Chris was with The Grass Cats for 20 years and played on several of their hit recordings. He is originally from Eastern North Carolina and still makes his home in Kinston. Not only has the Garrett Newton Band gained an exceptional fiddle player and vocalist, but also a tech person and experienced business veteran of the music industry. Chris completes the band which already consists of top-flight traditional musicians in rhythm guitar player and vocalist Allen Dyer, mandolin player Daniel Aldridge, flat-picker Parks Icenhour, renowned bluegrass professional Lorraine Jordan on bass and notable young banjo star, Garrett Newton.

Mountain Fever Records adds ClayBank to Label Roster

ClayBankWillis, VA -- Mountain Fever Records is pleased to announce the addition of North Carolina-based bluegrass band, ClayBank, to their roster. ClayBank will release their debut album for Mountain Fever Records Spring 2018. ClayBank is a new and impressive bluegrass band born out of the fertile musical ground of western North Carolina. The unique story of the formation of the group centers on a bluegrass veteran, who joined forces with a fellow picker in his mid-20s, and two talented teenage musicians that are about to be introduced to the greater bluegrass world. Gary Trivette is the elder statesman of ClayBank, a bassist and banjo player who has previously played with groups such as Carolina Crossing and Southern Accent. While sitting in a side room at the Appalachian State Old-time Fiddler’s Convention in Boone, NC, in 2015, he found himself jamming with then 15-year-old mandolinist Zack Arnold and guitarist Jacob Greer who was 17.

Hot Rize Celebrates 40 Years in 2018

Hot RizeHot Rize, one of bluegrass music's most beloved and influential bands, will kick off their 40th anniversary year-long celebration with a run of special SOLD OUT shows featuring special guests at the Boulder Theater. Since the Boulder Theater run sold out so quickly, they have decided to add a third date at the venue, tickets are on sale today. The three-night stand will be recorded for video and audio to be released throughout the year. The band takes to the road in January and February, touring the west coast and the northeast, and looks forward to a year of reaching new listeners as well as revisiting fans nationwide from its forty-year history.

Clay Hess Signs with Pinecastle

Clay Hess and Ethan BurkhardtClay Hess has signed with Pinecastle Records for an album to be released in 2018. The talented vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter won a Grammy award and was nominated for another during his time as a member of Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder. He has since done stints with Mark Newton, Mountain Heart, and Sierra Hull. This upcoming album will be the second release with the Clay Hess Band lineup and Hess's first for Pinecastle.

John McEuen Bids Adieu to Nitty Gritty Dirt Band

John McEuenNashville, TN -- John McEuen, one of the founding members of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (NGDB), has announced his immediate departure from the iconic group. Stating “enough is enough,” McEuen exits upon the conclusion of the NGDB 2017 tour in Fargo, ND - Sunday 10/22/17, marking the end of the band’s 50th year anniversary. McEuen’s decision to exit NGDB comes upon careful considerations and contemplation. “In assessing the situation surrounding our performances, business disagreements and ongoing difference of opinions, the timing is appropriate for my departure. As a catalyst to my decision, in December 2015, I received confirmation from Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Inc. that I was an ‘employee’-- no longer a member of the corporation that I helped to build,” stated McEuen.
