Corey Frizzell Donates Bill Monroe Portrait to the Friends of Mark Newton Benefit

Bill Monroe by Corey FrizzellNashville, TN -- Nashville’s Artist to the Stars, Corey Frizzell, recently created a fine art portrait of the late Bluegrass legend, Bill Monroe, to be donated to the August 24th Friends of Mark Newton Benefit. The benefit will include a star studded golf outing, auction and live concert in Fredricksburg, Virginia. Frizzell will be on hand at the benefit for a meet and greet to sign event posters and the original Monroe portrait to the highest bidder.

Junior Blankenship Plays Mountain Bluegrass at Carter Fold

Junior BlankenshipHiltons, VA -- Junior Blankenship was raised where mountain bluegrass was a corner stone to the family culture. Junior’s father, the late Hillard Blankenship, drove the tour bus for Dr. Ralph Stanley many years. Junior and his father formed a band called the Rocky Mountain Boys. Soon after that, Ralph Stanley called Junior and asked him to become a Clinch Mountain Boy after Keith Whitley left their group. Junior was only seventeen at the time. He stayed with Dr. Stanley until 1989. Saturday, August 18th, 2012, at 7:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert of bluegrass music by the Junior Blankenship Band with Lonesome Will Mullins. Admission to the concert is $8 for adults, $1 for children 6 to 11, under age 6 free.

Grammy Nominees Jeff and Sheri Easter to Appear on the Grand Ole Opry

Jeff & Sheri EasterTwo-time GRAMMY-nominated and six-time Dove Award-winning artists Jeff and Sheri Easter are scheduled to appear on the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday, August 4 for two shows at 7 and 9:30 p.m. These gospel music family group mainstays will be premiering songs from their upcoming release Eyes Wide Open (Spring Hill Music) which will hit streets on September 18. They will be performing with other artists, including Carrie Underwood, Little Jimmy Dickens, Jeannie Seely, Jim Ed Brown, Jean Shepherd, Bill Anderson and many others.

Bill KnowltonBill Knowlton's 40th annual "Bluegrass Ramble Picnic" takes place on Sunday, August 5th as usual at Dwyer Memorial Park, the home of the Cortland Repertory Theater, in Little York NY. Appearing for the first time will be Dyerswitch, known for decades of great bluegrass music in New York's Capitol District and, The Easy Ramblers, winners of the Syracuse Area Music Award (SAMMY) as best country group! Slewfoot is another bluegrass group with top shelf Southern Tier pickers. As always, this should be a great show!

Trey Hensley Brings His Drivin' Force to Carter Fold Aug. 11
