Historic Jonesborough Bluegrass Series to Wrap Up 2012 Season

Produced by Mountain Music Entertainment and nestled in Tennessee's oldest town, the Historic Jonesborough Bluegrass Series is looking forward to bringing another concert featuring top-notch entertainment to the East Tennessee region. This performance will conclude the 2012 series season.

American Legion Bluegrass Starts the Music at Post 238

Bill MonroeWilmington, NC -- Legendary bluegrass masters Peter Rowan, Tony Rice and The Travelin' McCourys pay homage to the undisputed "Father of Bluegrass" Bill Monroe. Few artists can claim to have created a genre all their own, but Kentucky-born musician Bill Monroe (Sep. 13, 1911 – Sep. 9, 1996) did exactly that when he added North Carolina banjo prodigy Earl Scruggs to his traditional stringband in 1945. Known as the Blue Grass Boys, Monroe and Scruggs, alongside singer/guitarist Lester Flatt, fiddler Chubby Wise and bassist Howard Watts, forged new ground, not only creating an entirely unique genre of American music, but forever changing the course of American rock-and-roll with one of their most famous songs, "Blue Moon of Kentucky" - an early hit for an up-and-coming young musician named Elvis Presley.

The Sunday Morning Gospel Show is free and open to all attendees. On Saturday, February 16, 2013 Harkey will present a special reunion of one of the greatest bands in the history of bluegrass music: The Bluegrass Album Band. 39th SPBGMA Bluegrass America Showcase of Bands Oct 11-14

Leftover Salmon Fall Tour 2012Leftover Salmon kicked off the start of their Fall Tour at Mr. Smalls in Pittsburgh, PA October 2nd with their Special Guest Liz Berlin of Rusted Root. After that they’ve got lots of great shows coming up, including two more camping festivals before this festival season comes to a close, a return to the Boulder Theater for two night to celebrate Thanksgiving weekend, Strings and Sol in Tulum, Mexico in December, and for New Year’s Eve they will be heating up the Midwest with a four-night run! There are lots of stops along this tour that the band has not traveled to in many years, plus they will be armed with their New Album Aquatic Hitchhiker.

The Educational Outreach Series offers quality programming at affordable prices for schools. Through study guides and discussions, we hope to develop critical thinking skills.
