Ed Schaeffer & Rattlesnake Hill Share Old Original "Country Girl"

Featuring Carl Nelson & Rattlesnake HillEd Schaeffer & Rattlesnake Hill have been around bluegrass for quite a while. Earlier the band name was No Leeway but due to band changes and time, Rattlesnake Hill was born. The band has a woven fabric of musicians that have share the fabric of Seldom Scene, Jay Armsworthy & Eastern Tradition, and others. The band has incorporated Fred Travers, Willie Oldes, Mike Phipps, Mark Vann and others. Needless to say, this is a band worthy of more attention.

Blue Highway at Musicians Against Childhood CancerBlue Highway at 32nd Musicians Against Childhood Cancer Festival which will take place July 20 through July 23 outside Columbus, Ohio.! Marty Raybon, Daryle Singletary, and more appearing! Proceeds from this festival will benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Since the year 2000, MACC and you have donated over $875,847.00 to St. Jude and the Y.M.C.A., helping children around the world. This year will be the 16th Year for Musicians Against Childhood Cancer.

The Crooked Road’s Mountains of Music HomecomingThe Crooked Road’s Mountains of Music Homecoming is a nine-day, region-wide celebration of the communities in Southwest Virginia – their traditional music, and all their many cultural and natural assets. The event includes Crooked Road concerts in over 30 communities, dozens of cultural experiences throughout the region, and over 70 existing traditional music related concerts, jam sessions, and festivals.

Ben Eldridge Honored with 2015 Washington Monument Award

Ben EldridgeDCBU president Randy Barrett presented the 2015 Washington Monument Award to Ben Eldridge, banjo player of the Seldom Scene, during their amazing performance at the DCBU Bluegrass Festival last Friday night, February 27 2015. The award honors his 40 years of bluegrass as a founding and continuing member of the Seldom Scene.

30th Joe Val Bluegrass Music Festival Feb 13-15

Joe Val Bluegrass FestivalJoin the Boston Bluegrass Union as they celebrate the legacy of the late Joe Val with three big days of indoor bluegrass at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel. They have a great lineup of national and regional talent, expanded workshops, Kid’s Academy, music vendors, and round-the-clock jamming. Their 2006 event won the coveted “Event of the Year” award from the International Bluegrass Music Association. 2015 is the 30th Anniversary of this wonderful event.

The event will be held at the Flat Iron Farm in Great Mills, Maryland. It is located on Flat Iron Road just 1.5 miles from MD Route 5. The event begins at Noon with gates opening at 11:00 am. All proceeds for the day go to support the Hospice House of St. Mary’s County.

For The Seldom Scene, it's taken not only talented musicians, a signature sound, and' a solid repertoire, but also a sheer sense of fun. On April 22, the longtime pillars of the bluegrass world will return with the aptly titled Long Time ... Seldom Scene via Smithsonian Folkways. The newly recorded collection features fresh interpretations of 16 oft-requested tunes and is the band's first studio album since the Grammy-nominated album Scenechronized in 2007. It's a family reunion in all the best ways, featuring the current - and longest-running -lineup, joined by founding members Tom Gray and John Starling and guests Chris Eldridge, Emmylou Harris, and Rickie Simpkins.

The Seldom Scene dedicates this album to the memory of founding members John Duffey (1934-1996) and Mike Auldridge (1938-2012).

Donna Ulisse Makes Debut Appearance at Birchmere New Year's Eve

Donna UlisseBluegrass singer songwriter Donna Ulisse and her band The Poor Mountain Boys will be making their first appearance at the legendary Birchmere Music Hall in Alexandria, Virginia on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 as they help ring in the new year. The show begins at 8:00 p.m and has been listed in the CBS DC local news as one of the top New Year's Eve concerts in the Washington, D.C. area this year.
