7th Annual Monroe-Style Bluegrass Mandolin Camp Just Two Weeks Away

Monroe Style Mandolin CampThe International Bluegrass Music Museum in Owensboro, Kentucky has announced that the 7th Annual Monroe-Style Mandolin Camp will be held September 14 through 16, 2012. At the Monroe-Style Mandolin Camp, you will spend three days with the finest mandolin faculty and luthiers and up to 50 of the coolest mandolin students you’ll find on Planet Earth. With registration for each camp capped at 50, the camps' intimate environment allows for ample opportunities to receive personal, hands-on instruction from each of these legends of Monroe-Style mandolin.

Northern California Bluegrass Society Calls For Bluegrass Related Documentary Films

Bluegrass on BroadwayThe Sixth Annual Northern California Bluegrass Society (NCBS) International Bluegrass Music Museum (IBMM) Film Festival will be held on January 27, 2013 in Redwood City. The film event is part of the 4-day Bluegrass On Broadway Festival presented by the Northern California Bluegrass Society. It is possible that the film festival may expand to two days in 2013, with the added session on January 20.

International Bluegrass Music Museum at Milwaukee Irish Fest

Bluegrass ShowcaseThe International Bluegrass Music Museum will be at The Milwaukee Irish Fest with its Bill Monroe Traveling Exhibit. The Exhibit, which is a condensed version of the Bill Monroe Centennial Exhibit, now on display at the IBMM in Owensboro, Kentucky, tells the story of Bill Monroe's career. It includes newly donated photographs of Rosine, Kentucky when Bill Monroe was growing up there and highlights of his career, including an audio clip of Bill Monroe talking about when he gouged the "Gibson" name off his mandolin. Representatives of the museum will be at the Irish Fest giving presentations about the Birth of Bluegrass Music and its Spread Around the World, and Bill Monroe and the Blue Grass Boys.
