Now making her living as a full-time musician in Nashville, TN, Vickie originally hailed from Paducah, KY, where the young adult acoustic music scene is jumping. She and her stellar bandmates are performing 25 concerts in the Bluegrass Museum's "Bluegrass in the Schools" program in January, 2014. Centered on powerful vocals and poignant songwriting, the Vickie Vaughn Band blends tradition with youthful funk and energy.

Town Mountain to Perform at IBMM

Town MountainAsheville, NC -- Congratulations to Town Mountain and their lead vocalist Robert Greer on winning 2013 IBMA Momentum Awards. Robert Greer takes home the Momentum Award for "Vocalist of the Year" and Town Mountain takes the honor for "Performance Band of the Year." The awards cap off a year of fantastic growth for the band which began with the release of their sophomore Pinecastle Records album, Leave the Bottle. The band is pumped for next year and kicks off festival season with performances at Mountain Song at Sea, Wintergrass, Suwannee Springfest, MerleFest and others to be announced.

Bill Monroe by Aaron KizerOwensboro, KY -- On July 25 th, sports celebrities native to Owensboro, Kentucky -- NASCAR legends Darrell and Michael Waltrip, world champion Moto GP Nicky Hayden "The Kentucky Kid" and brothers Tommy and Roger, NBA superstar Rex Chapman, Major Leaguer Brad Wilkerson, Kentucky basketball superstar Bobby Watson and Basketball Hall of Famer Cliff Hagan -- will be honored as inductees to the Owensboro Walk of Fame. The tribute will occur at the Hometown Heroes Celebrity Golf Scramble to benefit the new International Bluegrass Music Center. It is sponsored by the Owensboro-Daviess County Convention and Visitors Bureau. This event includes a golf scramble at the Owensboro Country Club followed by a reception hosted by the City of Owensboro including entertainment by these renowned Bluegrass musicians: Christian Sedelmyer, Todd Phillips, Scott Simontacchi, and David Golden.

With registration for each camp capped at 50, the camp's intimate environment located at the only museum in the world dedicated to the international history of bluegrass music allows for ample opportunities to receive personal, hands-on instruction from each of the legendary instructors of Monroe-Style mandolin. The International Bluegrass Music Museum is located in Owensboro, Kentucky near where it all started in the small town of Rosine.

International Bluegrass Music Museum Website Gets a New Look

International Bluegrass Music MuseumThe International Bluegrass Music Museum has had a long time presence on the Internet going back to the mid '90s when Bob Cherry of Cybergrass created their first site in 1966. He also created the first IBMA website at about the same time. The museum continues to evolve on the Internet as they progressed through 17 years of a web presence. This is a long time in Internet terms. The new site is clean, easy to navigate, and reflects the excellence that the International Bluegrass Music Museum strives for.

James Reams Makes Presentation to Bluegrass Music Museum

IBMM Plaque Presentation with James ReamsOwensboro, KY -- James Reams, of James Reams & The Barnstormers, was in Owensboro, KY this week for a presentation to the International Bluegrass Music Museum (IBMM). A plaque honoring his partner, Tina Aridas (who passed away in 2011), will be displayed in the museum’s library. Director of the museum, Gabrielle Gray, commented that Tina was instrumental in getting the library established at the museum by donating a substantial number of books to get it started. James also made a donation to the museum in Tina’s name and contributed a volume to add to the collection, a limited edition of America’s Music: Bluegrass.

Rollin OnThe line-up for the 6th Annual NCBS and International Bluegrass Music Museum's Bluegrass on Broadway Film Festival has been announced and “Rollin’ On” made it! “Rollin’ On” is a behind the scenes look at life on the road with James Reams & The Barnstormers. Viewers ride along with the band on the Redbird Express as they criss-cross the northeast playing at Lincoln Center, radio shows, bluegrass festivals and even a square dance. The documentary was released with their CD “Troubled Times.”

The Spinney Brothers Benefit Concert for Bluegrass Music Museum

The Spinney BrothersOwensboro, KY -- The Spinney Brothers will kick off their first US tour this year with a benefit concert for the International Bluegrass Music Museum in Owensboro, KY this Thursday, January 17th. When the band realized they had a couple of extra days available for travel, they immediately called the IBMM and offered their services for this very worthy cause. "We are huge supporters of the IBMM and its goal of preserving the history of bluegrass music," stated Rick Spinney. "We couldn't think of a better way for us to promote that cause than to offer to perform a concert to benefit the museum."
