Mark Newton and Steve Thomas Sign with Pinecastle Records

RebornColumbus, NC -- Pinecastle Records is proud to announce that it has signed Mark Newton and Steve Thomas to its roster. Their debut album is titled Reborn and will be released on April 9, 2013. With the two banded together, the "sideman" becomes a "frontman," and the "frontman" becomes a "partner." Both men are native Virginians who both struck out seperately in the music business decades ago, with both having completely different experiences. Now that both of their paths have converged, they are eager to blend their various musical flavors together to share with bluegrass and Americana fans everywhere. They are joined by bass player Matt Wallace who rounds out the trio that will be touring the country.

Friends of Mark Newton BenefitNashville, TN -- The Friends of Mark Newton Golf Outing and Music Event held on August 24th in Fredricksburg, Virginia, Newton’s childhood home, to assist the Newton Family with medical expenses following Mark’s hospitalization this Summer was a huge success. Mark Newton was hospitalized unexpectedly earlier this year at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville while preparing for the 20th Anniversary Graves Mountain Festival of Music, an event that Newton helped create with the Graves Family, in Syria, Virginia. The August 24th fundraiser had over 34 golf team participants and culminated with a special concert reunion of the Virginia Squires (Rickie and Ronnie Simpkins, Sammy Shelor, and Mark Newton) and special guests that included Grammy Award winning artist Carl Jackson, Dudley Connell of the Seldom Scene, and Ralph Stanley II among many others.

Matt Wallace Joins Mark Newton and Steve Thomas and the StillHouse Band

Matt WallaceNashville, TN -- Mark Newton and Steve Thomas proudly announce the addition of Matt Wallace to the StillHouse Band line up. Wallace will start performing with the band in the next few weeks during live shows and will be in the studio with Newton and Thomas as the band works on their upcoming CD to be released later this year or early 2013. The addition of Wallace to the group brings a solid, experienced bass player as well as baritone and lead singer to the ensemble.

Corey Frizzell Donates Bill Monroe Portrait to the Friends of Mark Newton Benefit

The benefit will include a star studded golf outing, auction and live concert in Fredricksburg, Virginia. Frizzell will be on hand at the benefit for a meet and greet to sign event posters and the original Monroe portrait to the highest bidder.

White Horse Black Mountain Announces Fall Lineup for 'Where The Hills Are Blue' Concert Series

The concert series continues on Friday October 7th with Niall Toner (from Ireland) and Asheville North Carolina area band Bobby and the Bluegrass Tradition. On October 15th, the series presents Grasstowne and Cumberland River. The fall series concludes on November 19th with Brandon Rickman of the Lonesome River Band. All Shows Begin at 8pm.

Ken Mellons Joins the July 26th 'Lyrics for Lyric Show'

Ken Mellons: Rural RouteNashville, TN -- Mark Newton, Lyrics for Lyric show host, is proud to announce the addition of Country Music great Ken Mellons, affectionately known to fans as the Jukebox Junkie, to the July 26th Lyrics for Lyric show. Born in Kingsport, TN, Ken Mellons' parents Rita and Charles unknowingly groomed their son to have an appreciation for soulful harmonies and raw acoustic sounds, the same sounds that could only be found on his dad's Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs bluegrass music records. Ken signed his first record deal in 1992 with Sony Music and sold over 500,000 copies of his debut album, which boasted the radio hits "Jukebox Junkie," and "I Can Bring Her Back." Mellons parted Epic after a second album and then signed to Curb. In 2004, he offered the album Sweet on a small label, with guest spots from George Jones, Vince Gill, Rebecca Lynn Howard and Earl Scruggs.
