Vince Gill Celebrates 20th Anniversary as Grand Ole Opry Member

Vince GillNashville, TN -- The Grand Ole Opry presented by Humana honored one of country music's most accomplished singers, songwriters and musicians, Vince Gill, tonight on his 20th anniversary as an Opry member. Among those joining Gill on stage throughout the night were his wife Amy Grant, daughter Jenny Gill, Jimmy Dickens, Emmylou Harris, Martina McBride, and The Time Jumpers.

Grand Ole Opry Star Billy Grammer Passes Away Wednesday

Billy GrammerNashville, TN -- Grand Ole Opry member Billy Grammer passed away early Wednesday morning in his home state of Illinois from natural causes. Grammer had been a member of the Opry since 1959 and was 85 years old. Funeral arrangements are listed below.

Friday, August 5th, during a grand opening event at the restaurant, 62-year Opry member Little Jimmy Dickens was presented with a Chef's hat and named the restaurant's Honorary Executive Chef.

Bluegrass Icon Jesse McReynolds' Tribute to the Grateful Dead Aug 4th

Jesse McReynolds Greatful DeadThe music made famous by the legendary Grateful Dead will be heard at the World Famous Station Inn on Thursday, August 4th. Grand Ole Opry star and bluegrass luminary Jesse McReynolds will mark the Nashville debut of music from his newest album Songs of the Grateful Dead: A Tribute to Jerry Garcia & Robert Hunter in a special concert. This is Jesse's most ambitious project to date combining the unique music of the iconic rock band with his signature bluegrass style. Grateful Dead historian Dennis McNally says, "If Jerry [Garcia] had managed to live to 80 and been from the South, he'd sound like Jesse McReynolds. It's one of the great American voices singing great American songs."

The Country Music Hall of Fame member will be celebrated with performances by fellow Opry member and former employer Emmylou Harris, Martina McBride, John Anderson, The Time Jumpers, his wife Amy Grant, and his daughter, Jenny Gill.

On July 8th, upon the legendary stage of The Grand Ole Opry, in between Y'all Come Back Saloon and Elvira, history was made. The oldest living Opry star, Little Jimmy Dickens, strode onto the stage dressed as William Lee Golden and surprised us all by announcing that The Oak Ridge Boys were to become the newest members of the prestigious sisterhood and brotherhood that IS the Grand Ole Opry! That night is now etched in music and Oaks' history. The official induction will take place August 6th on the same stage.

Bill Anderson to Celebrate 50th Anniversary as Opry Member Saturday, July 16

Bill AndersonNashville, TN -- The Grand Ole Opry presented by Humana will honor one of its longest tenured members, Bill Anderson, on his 50th anniversary as an Opry member on Sat., July 16, 7:00 p.m. The Country Music Hall of Fame member made his Opry debut just a few weeks before his 21st birthday and became a member less than three years later.

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store and the Grand Ole Opry release four CDs with recordings by more than 50 legendary and contemporary superstar artists. The Classic Collection includes live performances recorded on the celebrated stage of the Grand Ole Opry spanning six decades from the mid 1950s to the 2000s.
