Grand Ole Opry to Celebrated its Most Loyal Fan

Grand Ole Opry/Opry.com/ There are loyal fans, and then there are loyal fans. The Grand Ole Opry recognized its undisputed most loyal fan, Nashville’s Paul Eckhart, on Saturday, June 16. Eckhart marks 40 years without having missed a single weekend of Opry performances, and the Opry celebrated during the show by honoring him with its first-ever Opry Fan Award along with other surprises while he and his family enjoy performances from the Opry’s front row.

Ricky Skaggs Celebrated 30 Years on the Grand Ole Opry

The 14-time Grammy® winner was inducted into the Opry on May 15, 1982. Grand Ole Opry Background Vocalist Carol Lee Cooper Marks The End Of Her Opry Career

Carol Lee Cooper/Grand Ole Opry/ Nashville, TN -- Longtime Grand Ole Opry performer background vocalist Carol Lee Cooper of the Opry's famed Carol Lee Singers marked the end of her Opry career Saturday, March 24 with a portion of the show performed in her honor. During an Opry segment hosted by Cooper's friend Marty Stuart, Opry Vice President and General Manager Pete Fisher presented Cooper with a framed print commemorating her years of service to the Opry and the countless songs to which she's lent her voice on the Opry stage. Stuart and his band the Fabulous Superlatives then treated Cooper and the audience to a rousing rendition of "Carol Lee", penned and sung by band member Kenny Vaughan. Afterwards, as Cooper sat center stage, Stuart held her hand and closed the segment with the gospel standard "The Unseen Hand."

Vince Gill to Host America's Opry Weekend Thanksgiving Special Nov. 23-27

Vince GillGrand Ole Opry and Country Music Hall of Fame member Vince Gill will host the America's Opry Weekend Thanksgiving Special slated to air on radio November 23 through November 27. The radio programwill celebrate Thanksgiving and the beginning of a music-filled holiday season, with Gill playing some of the year's biggest hits about life, home, and thanks. The America's Opry Weekend Thanksgiving Special will also contain cuts from Gill's new release, Guitar Slinger, and several of his all-time holiday favorites, including some he'll be singing with his wife Amy Grant on the couple's 2011 "Twelve Days of Christmas" tour.

Grand Ole Opry Star Wilma Lee Cooper Passes Away

Wilma Lee Cooper/Opry.com/ Nashville, TN -- Grand Ole Opry member Wilma Lee Cooper passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at her home in Sweetwater, Tenn. from natural causes. She had been a member of the Opry since 1957 and was 90 years old. Her last solo performance on the Opry was at the Ryman Auditorium on Feb. 24, 2001. Wilma Lee joined the Opry cast at the grand re-opening of the Opry House on Sept. 28, 2010 for a group sing-along.
