But The Becky Buller Band and Off The Wagon aren't your usual bluegrass, they're two of the best young bands on the scene today.

Jeff Little Trio Entertains Carter Family Fold April 16

Jeff Little TrioHiltons, VA -- On Saturday, April 16th, 2016, at 7:30 p.m., the historic Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert by an old time band – the Jeff Little Trio. Hotshot rockabilly pianist Jeff Little comes from Boone, North Carolina, in the heart of the Blue Ridge, where he grew up surrounded by music. Jeff began to play piano at age five. His family owned a music store, and musicians of all persuasions dropped by to play a few tunes with the kid, which helps account for Jeff's mastery of a range of styles.

Joining conductor Matt Butler are Chris Pandolfi (Infamous Stringdusters), Bridget Law (Elephant Revival), Mimi Naja and Tyler Thompson (Fruition), Jay Starling (Love Canon) & Tyler Grant and Adrian Engfer (the Grant Farm). Opening the evening will be Dr. Harlan’s Amazing Bluegrass Tonic of Denver.

If you ever saw Larry Sigmon and the Unique Sound of the Mountains, you know the sound was unlike anything you ever heard before. Over the course of more than ten albums and several years of performing, Larry Sigmon and his late partner Barbara Poole continuously brought the house down with a variety of fast-paced mountain music tunes fueled by Sigmon’s high-speed claw hammer banjo picking and Poole’s infectious “heartbeat” bass plucking. While there were several groups out there that could get you onto the dance floor, no old time band could wear out your clogging shoes faster than the Unique Sound of the Mountains.

Whitetop Mountain Band Entertains Carter Family Fold March 26th

Whitetop Mountain BandHiltons, VA -- Saturday, March 26th, 2016, at 7:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert of old time music by the Whitetop Mountain Band. Whitetop Mountain Band is a family-based band from the highest mountains of Virginia. Whitetop is an area rich in old time music tradition, and this band has deep roots in mountain music. The band’s members have worked tirelessly to preserve the region’s style of old time fiddling and banjo picking and are legendary musicians and teachers of the style. Their shows are high energy and unlike any other show you have ever seen. There’s everything from fiddle and banjo instrumentals to powerful solos and harmony vocals on blues, classic country, honky tonk, traditional bluegrass numbers, old timey ballads, originals, four-part mountain gospel songs – and some flat foot dancing. Well-known for their charisma on stage and their ability to engage audiences of all ages, this group has been performing at the Carter Fold since shows first began at the A.P. Carter Grocery in the 1970s.

Troublesome Hollow with Tim White at Carter Fold March 19

Troublesome HollowHiltons, VA -- Saturday, March 19th, 2016, at 7:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert of bluegrass music by Troublesome Hollow with Tim White. Troublesome Hollow was originally formed in Hickory Tree, Tennessee, in the mid 1970s. The band recorded five projects between 1979 and 1989. Through most of these years, the band centered on the brother duo of Donnie and Gary Ollis and banjo picker Tim White. The early years of the band also included the dynamic singing of the late Ron Greene and the bass playing of Rick Moore.

Blue Highway to Host First Fan Appreciation Concert

Blue Highway BandEmory, VA -- Premier award-winning bluegrass band Blue Highway will host a first of its kind All Request Fan Appreciation Concert on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Emory & Henry College in Emory, Virginia. The concert will be the first outside event to be held at Emory & Henry's new $20 million McGlothlin Center for the Arts, with two show times available of 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm. The facility has six luxury boxes, a four-row balcony and four-row mezzanine, with a total capacity of 461 luxurious seats in the stunning new benchmark facility on Emory & Henry College's pristine campus set amist the rolling hills of Virginia just east of Bristol.

Mountain Park Old Time Band was formed seven years ago as a group of friends who happened to enjoy old time music got together to have a good time. Over the past several years, the Mountain Park Old Time Band has been creating a stir in old time music circles. The group has five members, all of whom are very versatile and talented musicians.

Adam McPeak, 17-year old mandolin player, has headed up his own band since the age of 13, in 2009. He didn’t have to look beyond the blue ridge mountains of home for the sound he was searching for - the rich blend of harmonies from his dad, Mike McPeak. Steve Chrisley lends his deep rich baritone and picking on the five string banjo. Lindsey Jackson will be playing guitar and helping out on vocals. David Chrisley holds them all together on the bass fiddle.

Jonah Riddle and Carolina Express at Carter Fold Saturday

Jonah Riddle and Carolina ExpressHiltons, VA -- Saturday, February 20th, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert of bluegrass music by Jonah Riddle and Carolina Express. Carolina Express was formed by brothers Jonah and Grayson Riddle. Jonah is 16, and Grayson is 11. Growing up in the mountains of western North Carolina, Jonah has been playing the banjo for 4 and ½ years now. From the first time he picked up the instrument, he fell in love. He started out playing at church three times a week. Because he enjoys bluegrass and gospel music so much, he decided to start his own band – Jonah Riddle & Carolina Express. Jonah’s brother, Grayson, plays guitar and does vocals. He has been playing guitar for almost 2 years. From the time he was only 5 years old, he would pick the guitar at church services. Jonah and Grayson credit the Lord for their playing and singing talent. Their dad, Benjie Riddle, plays the upright bass. The Riddles are bringing along an outstanding fiddle player – Mary Rachel Nalley – who plays fiddle for the Kody Norris Band.
