BCM Presents Bela Fleck & Abigail Washburn at Blue Stocking Club

Bela Fleck & Abigail WashburnThe Blue Stocking Club, Bristol’s longest running service organization, will bring the world’s most celebrated banjoist to the Paramount Center for the Arts in Historic Downtown Bristol in order to fund educational programming at the Birthplace of Country Music® Museum. The museum is slated to open on the corner of Moore and Cumberland Streets in Historic Downtown Bristol, VA/TN August 2014.

Joe Mullins & the Radio Rambler Close Season's Bluegrass Series

Joe Mullins & The Radio RamblersThe Sons of the American Legion and Jay Armsworthy prepare for the final American Legion Bluegrass concert of the winter season with Joe Mullins & the Radio Ramblers. The show takes place on Sunday March 24, 2013 at the American Legion Post 238 in Hughesville, MD with Chris Tenney & Riverside South opening the show.

Steve Martin, Edie Brickell, Steep Canyon Rangers Perform May 30

Steve Martin & Edie BrickellPerforming selections from their new album Love Has Come for You, releasing on April 23, 2013, the new musical partners Steve Martin and Edie Brickell combine Martin's expressive five-string banjo work with Brickell's heart-tugging vocals and detail-rich lyrics. Joining this dynamic duo for this performance will be the esteemed bluegrass combo, the Steep Canyon Rangers, with whom Martin has recorded and toured extensively. May 30th, Greenville, South Carolina's The Peace Center will feature Steve Martin, Edie Brickell and the Steep Canyon Rangers.

Kruger Brothers to Perform on Song of the Mountains

Kruger BrothersMarion, VA- The Kruger Brothers will headline the Song of the Mountains public television taping at the Lincoln Theatre in Marion, VA on Saturday, March 2nd. Originally from Switzerland, brothers Uwe and Jens Kruger began play­ing North American folk music at an early age and were particularly inspired by recordings of Doc Watson, Flatt and Scruggs, Bill Monroe, and other progenitors of country, bluegrass and folk music. Their first public performances were as a duo, busking on the streets of cities throughout eastern and western Europe.

Moccasin Gap Bluegrass Band to Carter Fold Feb 23rd

Moccasin Gap Bluegrass BandHiltons, VA -- Bluegrass band Moccasin Gap has a repertoire that includes traditional bluegrass tunes as well as more modern bluegrass tunes. The band has three recordings to their credit. Members of the group are: Luanne McMurray, Eric McMurray, Keith Sims, Bob Blackstock, and Daniel Housewright. Luanne is featured on vocals and upright bass. Eric plays the banjo and fiddle and does vocals. John Malayter plays mandolin. Daniel Housewrite plays lead guitar. Saturday, February 23rd, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert by Moccasin Gap. This show was rescheduled due to a cancellation of their February 2nd show. Admission to the concert is $8 for adults, $1 for children 6 to 11, under age 6 free.

Bluegrass Music Comes Duty Free to Carter Family Fold

Duty FreeDuty Free is a bluegrass band based in Bristol, Tennessee. Members of the band are Bobby Love, Charlie Powers, Rick Powers, Hal Boyd, and Tim Laughlin. Bobby plays mandiolin and demonstrates his versatility as a musician by singing both lead and harmony. He’s a songwriter as well who has written several tunes performed by the group. Charlie plays both lead and rhythm guitar and sings lead and harmony. Rick plays banjo in the traditional Scruggs style and also lends his vocal talent to the band. Saturday, February 16, 2013, at 7:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert of bluegrass music by the Duty Free Band. Admission to the concert is $8 for adults, $1 for children 6 to 11, under age 6 free.

Monroe Crossing at Carnegie Hall Feb 18

<Monroe CrossingMonday, February 18, 2013, Presidents' Day, Bluegrass 57@7 will host Bluegrass Music's Monroe Crossing as part of their program. The concerts will be held at the Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at the world famous Carnegie Hall. The program is part of the Distinguished Concerts International New York.

Grayson Highlands Band at Carter Fold Feb 9

Grayson Highlands BandHiltons, VA -- The Grayson Highlands Band, from the Jefferson, North Carolina area, plays a variety of old time music, ranging from rousing fiddle tunes to traditional songs and ballads. They are regulars at the Christmas in July Festival, the Albert Hash Festival, the Rugby Fall Festival, the Greater Lansing Area Festival, and the Wayne Henderson Festival. They have also been the guest band on the Gary Poe Live radio show several times, and have won numerous awards at regional fiddlers’ conventions. Strategic eMarketing owner Emanuel Rose, a former Camp Jack Hazard camper, is coordinating the marketing efforts for the benefit.

Carrie Hassler for Woodsongs Coffeehouse Concert to Benefit Shelter

An Evening with Carrie HasslerDalton, GA -- The Woodsongs Coffeehouse Dalton Chapter announces the return of their annual winter concert series to raise awareness and proceeds to complete construction of a new shelter by Providence Ministries. The facility at 613 Oxford Street in Dalton, Georgia will provide shelter for 60 men when construction is completed . An estimated $75,000 to $100,000 is needed to complete construction of the shelter. The highly acclaimed concert series features emerging and established performers of Americana, Country, and Bluegrass music. The concerts will be held in the intimate and eclectic setting of the historic Dalton Freight Depot located at 305 S. Depot Street in downtown Woodsongs Dalton Chapter Dalton Georgia. Seating is limited and performances typically sellout.

Tim White and the VW Boys in Concert Jan 26

Tim's music has gained a strong following throughout the region, and he’s fronted several bands over the past two decades - including Troublesome Hollow, the Beagles, and the VW Boys. Saturday, January 26th, 2013, at 7:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert of bluegrass music by the Tim White and the VW Boys. Admission to the concert is $8 for adults, $1 for children 6 to 11, under age 6 free.

Masters and Legends to Present Unforgettable Night Of Bluegrass

Bluegrass MastersBristol, TN/VA -- Lucky audiences in Bristol, Tennesssee and Bowling Green, Kentucky are slated to be the first to enjoy an unparalleled bluegrass musical experience when two new bands of bluegrass legends and masters, for whom the term “supergroup” seems grossly inadequate, make their first road appearances since each debuted at the International Bluegrass Music Association’s World of Bluegrass last October. This has been rescheduled for March 15th due to bad weather.
