Masters of Bluegrass Final Show in Naples, Florida Dec 8

Bluegrass MastersAlmost a year ago The Masters of Bluegrass proudly announced their first ever show as a band with Del McCoury, JD Crowe, Bobby Hicks, Jerry McCoury, and Bobby Osborne in the lineup. After a year of playing some of the best venues and festivals in the country and making some amazing music and memories, this Sunday, December 8, the bluegrass supergroup will play their last show in Naples, FL at The Philharmonic Center for the Arts.

Lorraine Jordan & Carolina Road to Perform at the Old Rock School

That's KentuckyValdese, NC -- North Carolina natives, Lorraine Jordan & Carolina Road, will bring their chart-topping bluegrass hits to the Old Rock School in Valdese on Friday, December 6, as part of the Bluegrass at the Rock Concert Series. Fellow Tar Heels Lou Reid & Carolina will also be performing. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The Dollar Brothers Bring Bluegrass to the Carter Fold

The Dollar BrothersThe Dollar Brothers provide a high energy, family-oriented bluegrass show. A traditional bluegrass band, they are from Watauga and Ashe Counties in North Carolina. Darrell Dollar, lead singer and older brother to Barry and Wade, plays mandolin and has written several songs for the group. Barry Dollar plays fiddle and banjo and sings lead and baritone. Wade Dollar, youngest of the three brothers, sings tenor and lead and also plays claw hammer banjo and dobro. Tim Norris, banjo player, is a cousin to the Dollars. Tim also sings, and he plays guitar and piano. Newest band member, J. M. Trivette, plays bass and helps out on vocals.

Lonesome Will Mullins BandLonesome Will Mullins grew up near Clintwood, Virginia, in a house that was filled with family musicians and plenty of bluegrass, old time, and country music. He learned to play the banjo and guitar as a teenager, and before long he was playing in several bands while honing his trade by studying the work of bluegrass legends like Bill Monroe, Jimmy Martin, and Dr. Ralph Stanley. To say he learned well would be an understatement. Saturday, November 30th, 2013, at 7:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert by Lonesome Will Mullins and the Virginia Playboys. Admission to the concert is $10 for adults, $1 for children 6 to 11, under age 6 free. At 7:00 p.m., there will be a special set of Carter Family music with special guest Ronnie Williams. In addition, the music center and the Virginia Playboys will be collecting toys for local, needy children at Christmas that night. Anyone attending the concert wishing to participate in the toy drive should bring an unwrapped toy.

Show admission is FREE and the Show time is 8:00 pm - 12:00 midnight. BlueTrain is a relatively new band that just did come out ... but yet, not actually. Each member of the band has a history of working with some of the best bluegrass musicians in the DC, VA, MD, PA area. More fascinating is that they don't seem to have hit their stride as of yet, only being a unit for a very short time and even fewer rehearsals ... they still do not have a website as of yet. To the band's credit, the core of this ensemble has previously performed together for an extended amount of time in a different configuration and has aided in the configuration to gel more quickly.

Albert Hash Memorial Band Featured in Crooked Road Youth Music Series

Albert Hash Memorial BandAbingdon, VA -- The Crooked Road: Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail presents a Youth Music Performance Series concert on Thursday, November 14th from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Heartwood: Southwest Virginia’s Artisan Gateway in Abingdon, Virginia. New Ballard's Branchy BogtrottersHiltons, VA -- The New Ballard’s Branch Bogtrotters took their group’s name from the original Bogtrotters, the famous Galax, Virginia, area band of the 1930s, and because band leader Dennis Hall lives on Ballard’s Branch. Galax is home to the world-renowned Old Time Fiddler’s Convention, and the area has traditionally produced some of the country’s finest old time string bands. Carrying on that rich musical tradition, the New Ballard’s Branch Bogtrotters features Dennis Hall on guitar, Leon Frost on mandolin, Jesse Morris on bass, Eddie Bond on fiddle, and Josh Ellis on banjo. The guys have been playing together for over twelve years.
