ClayBank to Randy's Pickin' Parlor Stage August 12

ClayBankClayBank finished 3rd in The International Band Competition at SPBGMA in Nashville TN last February. The video below has the 3 songs ClayBank performed in the in the 3rd and Final Round. Their first song - "I Believe" was followed by "Stepping Stone" and their performance wrapped up with "Say You'll Stay in My Arms."

The McLain Family Band Brings Appalachian Bluegrass to Carter Fold

McLain Family BandHiltons, VA -- On Saturday, August 13th, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert of bluegrass music by a long time popular group at the Fold, the McLain Family Band. Direct from the hills of Kentucky, The McLain Family Band has become internationally known as one of the most spontaneous, creative and spirited groups performing contemporary Appalachian bluegrass music. During the years 1968 – 1990, they performed in all 50 states and 62 countries during 14 international concert tours, some as musical ambassadors of the U.S. Department of State. The McLain Family Band played at the Grand Ole Opry, Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Lincoln Center and the Carter Fold. They were featured at thousands of festivals and concerts and performed as soloists in more than 230 appearances with orchestras.

Kilby Spencer & the Crooked Road RamblersSaturday, July 23rd, 2016, at 7:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a special concert by Kilby Spencer & the Crooked Road Ramblers with special guest Leon Frost. The Crooked Road Ramblers play traditional old time dance music from the mountains of Virginia and North Carolina. Members of the band are Kilby Spencer on fiddle, John Perry on guitar, Peco Watson on clawhammer banjo, Donald Hill on guitar and vocals, Wayne Dye on mandolin and Karen Carr on bass and vocals. Most members of the band are second and third-generation musicians who now play old time mountain music influenced by their families and communities.

Spencer Branch at Carter Family Fold this Saturday

Spencer BranchSaturday, July 9th, 2016, at 7:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a special concert by Spencer Branch, an old time band. Spencer Branch is the collaboration of siblings Martha and Kilby Spencer from Whitetop Mountain along with North Carolina native Kelley Breiding. They play music drawn from their mountain heritage in addition to traditional country, bluegrass, and a healthy dose of original songs. Their vocal harmonies and exciting fiddle tunes are a powerful combination sure to keep you entertained.

There will be a film crew from a TV pilot entitled “Where I’m From” that focuses on Appalachia and small town America at the Fold that night doing interviews and filming the show. In addition, Appalachian Trail will be special guests performing during part of the show.
