JR Rudd will release his 13 track debut album, Red Oak and Ash next week on February 26th. Rudd recruited some of his favorite St. Louis musicians to perform on his new release. Run Boy Run has completed their new album So Sang The Whipporwill. For those of you who don't know them, Run Boy Run is an Arizona band that won the 2011 Telluride Bluegrass Festival and the 2010 Pick'en in the Pines Folk Festival in Flagstaff Arizona. They have subsequently played as a paid band in Telluride and recently appeared with Garrison Keillor on A Prairie Home Companion on January 19th at Gammage Auditorium in Tempe and this weekend at the Fitzgerald Auditorium in St. Paul.

Doyle and the guys have completed a new recording that should be out in March. They have been working on it for about 2 months, when they could find the time to get together at the studio. They recorded this one at Josh Swift’s studio and some at Mike Roger’s studio, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver then headed to the studio at Crossroads to start recording some special songs that will be a part of a new opportunity coming up.

On Feb 8th the Urban Monroes released the single “Never My Love” making it available to DJ’s at Airplay Direct. With Valentine’s Day coming, love is in the air and it does seem a timely release. Though it wasn’t originally planned to coincide with the 14th, a bluegrass love song that doesn’t end up with a murder in it is a nice touch for the heart-felt holiday.

Alan Bibey and Wayne Benson, two of the greatest living award winning mandolin players, have joined together to create some of the most exciting bluegrass music in recent history with, The Mandolin Chronicles. The album, to be released March 12th on Pinecastle Records, showcases the pair on ten instrumental tunes and one vocal tune, "Another Night," featuring IIIrd Tyme Out's Russell Moore. Bibey and Benson wrote six songs on the album, co-writing three of them.
