Jim Hurst Trio to Release New Album

Jim Hurst Trio - JHT-1Jim Hurst announced that they just recorded the brand spanking new Jim Hurst Trio CD – JHT-1 with two fine people and musicians. JHT-1 features Nate Lee on Fiddle & Mandolin, Erik Alvar on Bass & Mandolin and Jim on Guitar & Banjo. There are instrumental tunes, sing songs, and lots of fun had by the three trio members.

Jeff Brown & Still Lonesome Release Single from Upcoming Album

A Distant HorizonUnion House Records is pleased to announce the release of the new single, "A Better Game", from Jeff Brown and Still Lonesome. The entire project, entitled A Distant Horizon, will be available on Friday, August 26, 2016. Jeff states, "We are very excited about this project. Holly, along with some of Nashville's finest Bluegrass musicians take you on an unbelievable ride through Elvis' musical career. The CD also features special guests James Burton, Elvis's legendary guitarist, and Elvis backing quartet, Terry Blackwood & The Imperials. This is Holly’s second bluegrass release. Appalachian Angel was released in 2014.

Ray Cardwell Signs with Pinecastle Records for Upcoming Release

Rayt CardwellSongwriter, vocalist, and bass player, Ray Cardwell has joined Pinecastle Records to release his solo album, Tennessee Moon, in fall 2016. The album has a clear New Grass influence in producer Pat Flynn. However, with nine out of twelve tunes written by Cardwell, the album is his own take on that classic sound. Flynn also adds his talents on guitar and harmony vocals to the album along with fellow New Grass Revival alum John Cowan lending tenor and harmony vocals on many of the tracks (full personnel listing below). Cardwell has already built a touring band of incredible musicians to take his music on the road as Ray Cardwell & Tennessee Moon.

Canadian Songwriters Inspire Claire Lynch's New Album

North By SouthNashville, TN -- Three-time IBMA Female Vocalist of the Year winner and 2016 nominee, Claire Lynch pays homage to Canadian songwriters through a set of bluegrass and Americana tracks on her new album North By South. Inspired by her recent marriage to a Canadian, Lynch began to dig into the vast catalog of songs written by Canadian songwriters. Working with Alison Brown in the producer’s chair, she delivers stand out versions of Ron Sexsmith’s “Cold Hearted Wind” with Jerry Douglas on Dobro, the catchy “Kingdom Come” written by Old Man Luedecke featuring Bela Fleck (banjo) and Stuart Duncan (fiddle) and the gorgeous maritime ballad “Molly May” written by Cape Breton’s J.P. Cormier. Lynch also offers thoughtful reinterpretations of songs by Lynn Miles (“Black Flowers”), Dave Francey (“Empty Train”) and Gordon Lightfoot (“It's Worth Believing”).

Rounder Artist The Lonely Heartstring Band Sign Endorsement with AirPlay Direct

Deep Waters AirPlay Direct is pleased to announce the signing of The Lonely Heartstring Band to an AirPlay Direct Artist Endorsement Deal. Four of the five band members of The Lonely Heartstring Band met while students at Boston’s Berklee College of Music. They are the winners of the 2015 International Bluegrass Music Association’s Momentum Award, and feature Charles Clements (bass & vocals), George Clements (guitar & lead vocals), Gabe Hirshfeld (banjo), Patrick M’Gonigle (fiddle, vocals), and Matt Witler (mandolin). The Boston-based bluegrass quintet released their debut album Deep Waters June 3 on Rounder Records.

Banjo Veteran Stuart Wyrick to Release Solo Album

Wyrick is no stranger to Bluegrass music. He is currently a member of Flashback, the reunion band including top Bluegrass musicians who worked with J.D. Crowe & The New South in the mid-1990s, and a former member of the Dale Ann Bradley Band. Prior to that he was a member of the popular Bluegrass group Brand New Strings who recorded two albums for Rural Rhythm Records and released several successful singles. Stuart was also a founding member of the Bluegrass Gospel group New Road, who recorded six albums, the Better Way Quartet, who recorded four albums, and his first group The Tater Valley Boys.
