The 55th Grammy Awards were held last night and the Steep Canyon Rangers captured the coveted Best Bluegrass Album for their Nobody Knows You album. The group had some outstanding competition with Dailey & Vincent, The Grascals, Noam Pikelny and Special Consensus all nominated for the bluegrass music award.

Nashville, TN --- The Grammy-nominated Grascals participated in the third annual Christmas 4 Kids Tour Bus Show and Artist Meet & Greet in Hendersonville, Tennessee. For a donation, fans have the opportunity to tour the homes-away-from-home of more than 50 artists and celebrities. The Grascals and many other artists are onhand to sign autographs and give fans and inside look at their tour buses, some of which are decorated from top to bottom for the holiday event.

Nashville, TN -- Compass Records recording artists received two out of the five nominations in the category of Best Bluegrass Album during last night’s Recording Academy announcement for the 55th Annual GRAMMY awards. Albums nominated include banjo virtuoso Noam Pikelny’s dynamic solo album Beat The Devil and Carry A Rail and Special Conensus’ critically acclaimed Scratch Gravel Road. Alison Krauss and Union Station seem to be everywhere right now. The band's album Paper Airplane just took home two Grammy® awards - Best Bluegrass Album for the band and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classica for the engineers on the album. This gives the bluegrass music star 27 gramophone trophies -- the highest ever for any female artist. The band is now gearing up for an important performance for the Country Music Hall of Fame, a 2012 tour and has even recorded a 500th episode piece for The Simpsons.

San Francisco, CA -- On Monday, November 7th, 2011 at the San Francisco Executive Arts Commission Meeting the resolution, spearheaded by Commissioner John Calloway was proposed to the board commissioners asking them to issue a formal request to the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences to immediately reinstate the 31 categories of music genres that were dropped from GRAMMY consideration on April 6, 2011. Members of the community who attended and spoke were musician and previous NARAS governor Sandy Cressman, Recording Artist and 2x GRAMMY Nominee Mark Levine, KPFA Radio Producer Clayton Leander and producer and writer Stephanie Dalton, who presented the public petition that now has over 5,400 signatures.
