Woodsongs Coffeehouse Benefit to Feature Donna Ulisse

Donna UlisseThe Woodsongs Coffeehouse Dalton Chapter will host a Christmas concert on Saturday December 7, 2013 to benefit Providence Ministries featuring bluegrass music artist Donna Ulisse and The Poor Mountain Boys. The 7 pm concert will be held at the historic Dalton Freight Depot at 305 S. Depot Street in downtown Dalton, Georgia. Donna will perform the musical narrative from her album titled "All the way to Bethlehem". It is a dramatic story told in song -- much like such other Bible-based musical productions as Jesus Christ Superstar and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Woodsongs Dalton Chapter

Larry Sparks & Junior Sisk Headline 5th Bluegrass for Hospice

Larry SparksGreat Mills, MD -- Bluegrass for Hospice-2013 will be held on Saturday October 26. Not only is the event celebrating its 5th year, but headliner, Larry Sparks is celebrating his 50th year in Bluegrass music. Bluegrass for Hospice-2013 will be held at the Flat Iron Farm in Great Mills, Maryland. It is located on Flat Iron Road just 1.5 miles from MD Route 5. The event begins at Noon with gates opening at 11:00 am. All proceeds for the day go to support the Hospice House of St. Mary’s County.

Town Mountain to Perform at IBMM

Town MountainAsheville, NC -- Congratulations to Town Mountain and their lead vocalist Robert Greer on winning 2013 IBMA Momentum Awards. Robert Greer takes home the Momentum Award for "Vocalist of the Year" and Town Mountain takes the honor for "Performance Band of the Year." The awards cap off a year of fantastic growth for the band which began with the release of their sophomore Pinecastle Records album, Leave the Bottle. The band is pumped for next year and kicks off festival season with performances at Mountain Song at Sea, Wintergrass, Suwannee Springfest, MerleFest and others to be announced.

There will be a variety of musical styles presented at the benefit. Johnny and Jeanette will be performing bluegrass, Nick Distefano & Bruce Dees present vintage pop hits, Kira Small brings R&B variety, John Finney performs Contemporary Christian, Doug Seegers brings his original works to the stage, KP & Danai present Christian Rap, Jme Medina performs Christian Pop, and award winning Nashville songwriters Scott Neubert, Ellen Britton & Bill Maiers round out the line up.

Deering Raises Over $25,000 for Charity

2013 Deering Charity BanjosThe Deering Banjo Company raised $25,777.68 for charity this summer through the auctioning off of one of a kind Deering Goodtime Gentlemen of the Road banjos signed by Mumford and Sons. A different banjo was made for each Gentlemen of the Road Stopover date. There were five banjos in total, each bearing the location’s name as well as signatures from all four members of the band.

The Hillbenders Respond to Colorado’s Front Range Disaster

The HillbendersWith deep roots planted in Colorado, and a love for the state and people sowed over years, The Hillbenders have announced they will be hosting the Foothills Flood Relief Benefit - Working Together to Help Colorado's Front Range, on Thursday, Oct. 24 at George's Majestic Lounge in Fayetteville, AR. The benefit will include special guests, the Cindy Woolf & Mark Bilyeu Band featuring Jody Bilyeu (of Big Smith). Together they hope to bring more light, hope, and support to a place with people that means so much.

Steep Canyon Rangers’ Mountain Song Festival Raises Over $50,000

Steep Canyon RangersThis past weekend, the Steep Canyon Rangers presided over their 8th annual Mountain Song festival in Brevard, North Carolina. The festival, which the group founded in 2006, is an annual fundraiser that benefits the Boys & Girls Club of Transylvania County, NC. This year’s event, which took place over September 13th and 14th, boasted a lineup that included some of the finest musicians on the contemporary bluegrass and acoustic music scene, including Balsam Range, the Carolina Chocolate Drops, Shawn Camp, Bela Fleck & Abigail Washburn, The O’Brien Three featuring Tim & Mollie O’Brien with Rich Moore, Shannon Whitworth, and the Steep Canyon Rangers.

Jimmy Jam Benefit Tonight on Music City Roots Live-Stream

Jim VanCleveBluegrass music artist Jim VanCleve, founding member of Mountain Heart (fiddle), contracted Dengue Fever from mosquito bites he got from a recent trip to St. Croix back in March. The near fatal experience resulted in Jim being hospitalized for days. Now, he is suffering from the huge medical expenses as a result of that infection. Tonight, Music City Roots will live-stream Jimmy Jam, a live benefit to help Jim and his family with those expenses.
