The purpose of the Leadership Bluegrass program is to pull together a cross section of people with exhibited or potential leadership qualities into a network of learning and communication. The results will foster a broad-based understanding of the total needs of the bluegrass community, which will help participants better prepare to determine the goals of the particular organization, company or group in which they choose to serve.

Martin, who always included banjo picking in his early stand-up comedy routines, has become more serious about recording and performing bluegrass music during the past two years, with the release of two albums of original music.

IBMA 2011 World of Bluegrass Showcase Artists and Songwriters Announced

World of BluegrassIBMA/ Nashville, TN -- IBMA is proud to announce the following acts have been invited to perform in featured showcases for their colleagues in the bluegrass industry during the organization's 2011 Business Conference. The purpose of these presentations is to introduce the group's talent and material to event producers, broadcasters, labels, media and other prominent industry professionals attending the events. An additional six acts will be invited to showcase, in a separate selection process, from recommendations received from nationally distributed record labels.

Initial Performers Announced for International Bluegrass Music Awards Show

IBMA AwardsNashville, TN -- An initial list of performers for IBMA's 22nd International Bluegrass Music Awards has been confirmed for the Thursday, September 29 event. The Awards Show, held at Nashville, Tennessee's historic Ryman Auditorium, will feature performances from nominees Balsam Range, The Boxcars, Dailey & Vincent, The Grascals, The Gibson Brothers, Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out, Sierra Hull & Highway 111 and Steve Martin & The Steep Canyon Rangers. Also performing is Awards Show host, Sam Bush. More performers, as well as the lineup of presenters, will be announced in the coming weeks.

Latest IBMA Survey Yields Interesting Results

The new survey included some new and better questions that also yielded some new and interesting results. While the question options were not visible for all the questions, for those that were there, an interesting picture evolved.


World of Bluegrass Getting Closer as Details Emerge

The week is called, "The World of Bluegrass" and it will be a world of just that. Nashville, Tennessee will find bluegrass music popping up everywhere besides the show itself. Venues, including the legendary Station Inn, and the Ryman Auditorium will be hosting bluegrass artists.

While this blog entry focuses on the association's International Bluegrass Music Awards, the roots of the problems are deeper than that.
