Tim White, The VW Boys and Friends at Carter Fold Saturday

The VW BoysSaturday, March 21st, 2015, at 7:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert of bluegrass music by the Tim White and the VW Boys and Friends. Tim White is the banjo picker, guitar picker, and baritone singer for the VW Boys. He knew Dave Vaught for several years prior to both of these gentlemen forming the VW Boys band which features bluegrass music, magic, and comedy in one self-contained variety show. Fat Albert Blackburn is the third leg of the VW Boys and plays upright bass and sings lead. Dave Vaught is an excellent entertainer and magician who brings his talents to the group as well as playing guitar and singing lead and harmony parts. The VW Boys will provide plenty of dance music for the cloggers and flatfoot dancers at the Fold by having Kevin Jackson accompany them on fiddle. Glen Harlow will also sit in as the group’s mandolin player.

Special Janette Carter Memorial Gospel Concert Nov 16th

The VW BoysSunday, November 16th, 2014, at 2:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a special gospel concert by Tim White and the VW Boys & Adam McPeak and Mountain Thunder. 2014 marks the seventh annual gospel event in honor of Janette Carter. This year’s concert will also pay tribute to the late Larry McPeak who passed away earlier this year. Admission to the concert is $10 for adults, children ages 6 to 11 $3, under age 6 free. Tickets will be available only at the door on the day of the concert. Doors will open at 1:00 p.m.

Dave is a professional magician who has brought joy the literally tens of thousands of people,especially children over the past three and a half decades. As a musician with the VW Boys, he brings more joy with his singing and guitar playing. He has worked extensively in the public school system with the "Dare Program" to help fight drugs with our youth. Now, he needs your help with the costs of his expensive medical costs.

VW BoysHiltons, VA -- A longtime supporter of the Carter Fold and the traditions of Appalachia, Tim White settled in east Tennessee in 1974 and pursued his dream of being an artist, sign painter, and banjo picker. Tim's music has gained a strong following throughout the region, and he’s fronted several bands over the past two decades - including Troublesome Hollow, the Beagles, and the VW Boys. Saturday, January 26th, 2013, at 7:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert of bluegrass music by the Tim White and the VW Boys. Appalachian Cultural Music Association Pickin’ Porch Re-opens in Bristol

The Pickin' Porch ShowBristol, TN/VA -- The Appalachian Cultural Music Association’s Pickin’ Porch will re-open on a new night and at a new location starting this coming Monday evening January 14th at 7:00 pm. The ACMA Pickin’ Porch will present free concerts to the public at 620 State Street in downtown Bristol every Monday evening in the future as well.

Documentary on Country Music Birthplace at Musical Fundraiser on September 30th in Bristol

Echoes of the Blue RidgeBristol, TN/VA- The Appalachian Cultural Music Association (ACMA) will release a documentary, Echoes of The Blue Ridge, to the public on Sunday, September 30th at 3:00 pm at the ACMA Pickin’ Porch located on the upper level of the Bristol Mall in Bristol, Virginia. There will be plenty of live bluegrass and old time music at the event to celebrate the project’s release. The documentary is of the music and the Blue Ridge Mountain region of Appalachia.

Song of the Mountains Fundraising Concert Set for June 30th

Song of the MountainsMarion, VA- The Award Winning Song of the Mountains Concert Series will present a fundraising concert at the historic Lincoln Theatre in Marion, Virginia on Saturday, June 30th at 7:00 pm. “Our concert series is in our eighth season of tapings”, says Tim White the executive coordinator and host. “We are a non-profit organization and we are always searching for funding to keep our concert series on public television across America.” says White. “We receive absolutely no funding from PBS as some people might think. We really depend on the support of bluegrass, old time, gospel, classic country and Americana music fans to step forward and make donations anytime they can. We hope many will come to our exciting fundraising concert on June 30th and enjoy a wonderful show.”

Legendary Janie Fricke Headlines Song of the Mountains

Janie FrickeMarion, VA -- Janie Fricke will headline the Saturday, June 2nd Song of the Mountains concert at the Lincoln Theatre in Marion, Virginia. Joining Janie on the show will be the show's host, Tim White and his band the VW Boys with their special brand of music, magic and comedy. Also performing will be the hard driving bluegrass band Kevin Richardson and Cuttin' Edge and the old time music sounds of the Elkville String Band.
